When I was on dialup, slow dialup at that, the only complaint I had were people that put pictures in the sig lines. Turn those off, along with avatars, and you should have no problems. The gradmlins are so small, they get cached easily by your browser making the performance hit over dialup minimal.

Besides, the page loaded quickly, even if it took a few moments for the smileys list to appear. I could still be typing my post while they were loading.

im on dialup with an extremly old computer(450 mhz) and i have no problems.

Heh, look - I'm not complaining either - I'm only heeding to as many user concerns as I can. We have a shyteload of smileys as it is anyway. I rarely see a few of them even used.

There was an idea brought up that we should have a link in the instant smileys section which could pop up a small window with more smileys should people desire the 'complete' list. But that's another thing that someone with the know-how would have to take care of - and I'm not that someone :lipsrsealed:
