Question About Mushroom Tea

I am thinking about making some mushroom tea. My question is, would it be better to use dried or fresh mushrooms. Not researched it much, so thought i would make a post. Any answer helps, thanks

If, you have fresh it will extract almost all the magic. You can use as little water as possible and still have optimal extraction from fresh. Add some lemon juice and honey for better extraction and flavor. Just enough water to equal the water in the mushrooms.

If, you have dried a lot of the magic will already have degraded or been converted.

So, for full effect just use fresh.

Either way, it will reduce the stomach discomfort.

But, tends to hit you fast and all at once. So, be ready for a somewhat unpredictable blastoff. Know how much you put into it and what level you intend to reach or drink sloooow. Otherwise, it will put you on your ass.

I actually read that it works better with dry mushrooms and when I read that it even suggested you can dry the mushrooms first.

Curious what your reasoning is for the claim that fresh mushrooms are easier to extract from...?

Idk which is true, just know the person who's tek i read seemed to have made tea a boat load of times...

Also i recently made tea for the first time and it was by far the best method I have ever tried..

Definitely suggest trying it out...

Did you use dried mushrooms? And i am currently growing my own, first time grow, almost time to pick them. Heard about the tea method, thought i would try it. Just got curious, because i heard fresh ones are stronger, and I am able to have both dried and fresh. Thanks for the help guys/gals

Fresh is best IME.  Taste's better, full potency. Tea tek.

Fresh are supposedly stronger when you eat them,

When I did tea I used dried cubes.

I also grow my own.

I'll probably try some fresh now and try more dried and then more fresh then a few more dried and see if I notice a difference :shrug:

Bro that is not exactly common sense to understand the chemical degradation and potency or effect associated with wet mushrooms vs dried...

I was under the impression dried mushrooms experience no potency loss.

I can't really say I have ever noticed that a wet dose blew my socks off compared to a dry dose of the same relative strength.

How much degradation and potency loss do you really experience in a 12-24 hour period it takes to completely dry...?

That would require a scientific measurement, not common sense...

Plus the question was directly related to making tea, and the differences in wet vs dry mushroooms in the process of making tea.

I'll take primal soup's word for it though since he seems to have done it far more than I have.

The second I harvest mine I'll be making some tea, to impatient to wait lol. Although I will dry the rest for storage.

I just make tea from the harvests and store that.  It's not like the tea ever really tastes that good (I make it the same weight as the fresh weight - i.e. if I had 30 gms fresh I want 30 gms of tea with the same effect) but when I've made tea from dry it's always a bit of a yecch taste.  Dry can be plenty potent depending on species, but fresh just tastes better to me.  :shrug:

I had absolutely no taste when I made mine, tasted just like some good tea with honey.

I like the Yogi, Honey Lavender stress relief tea with some good quality honey :super:

I make it extremely strong with citric acid to aid in extraction, boil it for a minute, and then steep it for about 10 and then strain it.  The taste isn't bad but it's not something you can acquire IME.  Best to take a chug and a juice chaser, fortunately there's never a lot of it even at the 200g fresh weigh dosages I get to during extensive daily tripping times. The taste is mostly irrelevant to the purpose.





OTOH when I've had liberty cap tea it can actually be savored.  Wood lovers produce a nice nutty sort of teat that isn't unpleasant.  Cubes not so good. :shrug:

tea can be ridiculously fast acting, so be aware of that. i was at a house where some kids drank shroom tea with only 8-9 grams try between like 5 people, and they drank the tea and were all tripping balls in i swear 10 minutes it was crazy haha(me being used to the long slow come up when you just eat them)

Tea was prepared yesturday morning with 1.5 dry b+ and 1.0 gram  fresh gt stem butts. We ground the dry to powder and sliced up the freahies. Added hot water, juiced one "fresh" lemon. Soaked for a hour, strained and soaked again in hot water with lemon zest/ peels. Added a tropical green tea bag with one spoon of organic sugar and four drops green food color. This potion absolutely blew us away! It starts kicking in maybe 10-15 minutes, so be warned...

This was my first time adding fresh to tea and it seemed MUCH stronger then tea made with 3.5 dry. Maybe the green food color boosted it up.
