The Nice France truck attack kind of proved that firearms aren't the best option, an 18 wheeler and a block party seems to be one of the best ways to get the most kills.  Iff the dude slammed an 18 wheeler into a church and killed everyone inside no one would say a damn thing about the truck at all lol.

Trucks aren't a very convenient method for targeted killing. It's a good option for Isis and trump supporters I suppose.

Again, advocating death of people who support trump.

What if someone wishes you were on the bike path when that truck slammed through people in NY last week?

"if only Koods had gotten smashed to pieces, what a convenient method."

I made a pretty decent gun a few years ago. The barrel was a brass tube, folded at one end. Propellant was homemade nitrocellulose. Bullets were lead fishing weights and the firing mechanism was a blow torch.

Shot a hole right through the basement door.

You just single handedly defeated your own already weak argument.

:greatjob:

Yeah it was a totally practical weapon that only took 5 minutes to load and was triggered with a blow torch. A true weapon of mass destruction.

my AR is just a piece of metal that strikes another little piece of metal via springs that strikes the back of a bullet casing.

What a true weapon of mass destruction.

You misunderstood what he said.  I believe he was saying using a truck to kill is a good option used by isis and trump supporters.

Regardless it makes no sense either way though.  Much like most of what he says.

When a terrorist goes on a spree, don't blame an entire religion.  When a guy slams a car into people and he voted trump, it's all Trump supporters.

All I'm saying is at this moment, running over people with vehicles is a technique popular with two groups: Muslim terrorists and trump supporting terrorists.

Why don't we hear more denouncing from the trump supporters who don't support the radical terrorism in their name? Instead we have apologists like herbologist claiming it's all fake news.

speaking of per capita numbers, the U.S. homicide rate sits just under 4/100,000pop/year.  What do you think would be the best case scenario were we to ban firearms outright?(in terms of per capita homicides)

It's 5.3, up from 4.8 a year earlier

Europe, Canada, Australia are between .5 and 2.

Why are you satisfied with such a high murder rate?

you're using the UNODC data?
koods said:
Firearms are the number one cause of death for people under 24. You don't think that is a problem?

Firearm deaths take 1-2 years off the American life expectancy.

you have a link for the FBI data? I wasn't even aware that the FBI tracked homicide rates in Europe Canada or Australia. I would like to compare to past years so I can make a reasonable judgment.
Even at 5.3, that's pretty low, historically speaking.  Why are you disparaging the strides we've made in reducing homicides?  Also, do you have a source for the life expectancy claim?  Is that from the FBI as well?

The cdc data says it's "Accidents (unintentional injuries)"  followed by "intentional self harm" for males, and females of all races.

koods said:
A majority of self harm is firearm. Firearms are also a major contributor to accidental deaths

Would it be better if more people hung themselves instead?  I guess it would, from a cleanup perspective.
As for accidents, I'll concede the point, but i don't see how a firearm accident is functionally different from a car accident, a sky diving accident, a climbing accident, etc.

I wonder how much of that is just due to having a larger proportion of old people though.

There are several theories.  I've heard people give the credit to decreased childhood lead exposure as well as easier abortion access.  Yours sounds as good as the next.

Firearms are far more effective and luring to someone thinking about suicide. It's a proven fact that access to firearms increases the risk of suicide.

Every study that has examined the issue to date has found that within the U.S., access to firearms is associated with increased suicide risk.

Could be the plummeting rate of gun ownership. :cookiemonster:

Well looky looky. Homicide rates track gun ownership rates quite nicely
