I've already had 3 similiar experiences. One of them being my parents, said the exact same thing.
What's really is crazy is Bush says they dont need to re-evaluate school security, but instead tighten up what they already have. WTF? True, they dont need to re-evaluate security policy, they are already fucking us enough. Tighten up? There is absolutely nothing no person can do to stop someone like this. Yea, the current security measures may make it harder for normal people to do some crazy shit, but nothing will stop a person who has it in their head that there gonna kill a bunch of people, then kill themselves. They could put metal detectors in front of every classroom door, and every dorm door, and it's still not even close enough to stop someone that fuckin sick.
Now that this is happening so often, and getting worse, unfortunately, it seems that there will always be that one that happened again. It's inevitable in todays society. Sad truth, but it will happen again, no matter what the fuck the government comes up with to restrict our rights furthur.
I hope that everyone who cant contact their friends will find that their friends are ok. If you find out the person is ok, update your post to reflect so.

after reading that i think i might be slightly psychopathic and i'm not really surprised.
but i wouldn't consider myself evil, just somewhat detached.

This is a horrible tragedy. My question is did not one person in that whole fucking building try to stand up for themselves and come up on this motherfucker from behind with a heavy object? Why did they not band together and try to stop him before so many were killed?? I haven't read any reports about anybody trying to do something about it, just reports about people cowering under their desks in fear sending text messages to mommy.

What would you do if someone suddenly burst into your room and started shooting at you?
I can guran-fucking-tee your first thoughts won't be to try to sneak up behind him. Self preservation always wins out, especially when it happens in seconds.

Except I get the impression that only two killings happened in the dorm. The rest were in the Engi building, I get the impression a lecture hall. I also read something, can't find the link anymore, that he like stepped outside for a second, probably to reload, and a group of people got up and ran through a different exit, and other people stayed and tried to play dead and shit, but that failed. It's hard to say what I would actually do, but if all I see are handguns and one shooter, and he leaves for a second, I'm leaving.

I can guaran-fucking-tee I wouldn't be hiding under a desk text messaging my mother. But then again I was brought up to defend myself at any cost. However yes you are right it's very hard to say exactly what you'd do in that situation. The cowardice just sickens me when the situation at hand was kill or be killed.
Yes sneaking up behind him is a bit unrealistic but you're telling me a group of 5 - 10 unarmed men (and there was a hell of a lot more people than that in that building capable of doing something) couldn't have overpowered one armed man with two hand guns?

but then you'd need 5-10 guys to agree with you on the spot. immediately. no hesitation. All of them knowing that at least 2 or 3 of them will be shot and possibly killed before you even reach the guy in this bumrush. It's easy to say that's what should be done, but to do it on the fly in the face of an armed gunman is another thing entirely.
In all honesty, unless i had a bat in my hand, and a clear angle on the guy from behind, i'm sure i'd be running and ducking for cover as well. I don't want to die. Especially not in some futile attempt to rush in headlong and attack a fucking armed gunman. That's not bravery. That's stupidity.

A few moments on a paintball field will change some strategy. Nothing near real guns, but it definitely gets rid of the rambo attitude.
