Well, the only bacteria he could ever spot were the ones that smelled like death. I think 4 types of bacteria is not too far off the mark, if any.

And you don't have to. There is nothing keeping you from doing anything in mycology, not a lab and not the need to grow commercially. If you want an isolate, you can get one. If not, just as good.

You problem isn't with your conditions or your setup. Your spawn was bacterial. You can tell by the thick stringy aerial mycelium before you cased, and by the thick white aerial mycelium popping up through the casing. Just be patient, you will get a flush out of that at least. But don't expect it to live long after that before it turns green or something.

And when I case at spawn my casing always colonizes. But you cased after 100% so it shouldn't be as colonized as that is. Don't sweat it though OP this might get good real soon...

The tub was not fanned.... it had nothing to do with bacteria....

It's no picture perfect canopy which I've had from Ms before but no means for agar. ...but still... ops tub is a product of mycelium reaching the surface before full colonization.....poorly mixed spawn perhaps? Nothing to do with bacteria....the jar picture is a good example of mycelium sectoring off bacteria which I thought was happening in ops tub but clearly it's colonized....if it fruits poorly in that specific area op then it could be due to poor genetics but for spawn to colonize bulk the likely hood of a major bacteria contamination is not likely.....there is different levels which hinder performance but the golden rule is if it smells like mushrooms....you will get mushrooms.

It is bacteria. The "mycelium" is not seperate strands, its shiny rigid linear bacteria. That is not something that is new info. Aerial mycelium is still in strands, not fused.

That's contaminated with bacteria.  If it were aerial mycelium, the strands would be individual, not all bundled up and shiny like that.

In the future, don't keep things so wet.  Don't mist as soon as the sides of the terrarium dry out.  The holes cause the sides and roof to dry out long before the cakes do.  You got things too wet, and then kept them that way.  I'd bury those in a shady spot outside in some well manured soil and hope for the best.
