There is three vectors of contamination in ops prep....the syringe, the grain prep or the bulk material....

I'm leaning towards overly saturated bulk which causes this since the initial run was doing very well up until I seen those pictures yesterday. Had I seen that uncolonized portion before I'd have been on the bacteria boat too..
.which I was up until the first splotch colonized.

There was never a magic wand to be waved at ops tub.

OP got fruits but he needs to take the advice and clean up a culture on agar since ms mycelium always behaves differently. Sorry op, you do still have edible fruits though....they're not sickly looking.

Just stop trying to diagnose his problems. You are making a fool out of yourself.

His problem was BACTERIAL SPAWN :facepalm:

You problem isn't with your conditions or your setup. Your spawn was bacterial. You can tell by the thick stringy aerial mycelium before you cased, and by the thick white aerial mycelium popping up through the casing. Just be patient, you will get a flush out of that at least. But don't expect it to live long after that before it turns green or something.

healthy MS still looks healthy, bacterial grows looks bacterial no matter if its MS or "You isolated on agar first" :rolleyes:

Yeah there's just a point when you stop trying to convince hybrid, but here's my last try. All I can say is that the tub hybrid put up looks pretty awful. Lumpy, bubbly and altogether shitty.

What you have is classic bacteria. Cottage cheese look, thick, and the bubbles are the myceliums reaction to bacteria. Tomentose looks wispy and thin. Not thick and bubbly. As seen in the pic above.

And notice there's different types of growth. Both tomentose and rizmorphic. That is what healthy MS looks like.

Mycelium behaves differently on bulk material....it never looks like how it is on a petri dish.

You can't even apply b/e to ms... I'm not even concerned about it to be honest...

Besides it was 4 L of wbs to 1.5L coir.... and I never said you couldn't get fruits from a bulk sub with bacteria. Anyways...that 68 L tub is pinning...

BE can so be applied to MS. I can easily consistently see at least 80%.

But I get it. It's pinning again. Show it off when you see it finished. I did tell you that it was only slightly bacterial. Not entirely covered in it, so I really wouldn't be surprised if you see multiple flushes. But mycelium always bubbles to bacteria regardless of genetics. Tomentose although can be thick, it doesn't look rubbery and thick. It's wispy. You can deny it all you want, that's just how it goes.

I really need to know where these things you say are coming from. Of course you can calculate the bio efficiency of any grow. Your comment about isolates isn't even relevant. I think I see what you're saying, but it doesn't matter.

You're thinking in terms of "well, the BE isn't as good this grow with this isolate (which I know can bust out 150% BE), so I must have a contaminate. But this is irrelevant.

Even with an MS grow, you should strive for 100%+ BE. Any less means you had bacterial spawn. This is pretty much a fact--I've been noticing this simply by tracking my grows. Sure, it's possible you get crap genetics and only get 75% from pristine spawn, but it's highly unlikely.

IMO it's not bacteria that's giving him such low return on BE or grain spawn or however you like to see it,
rather poor fruiting conditions, it really lacks in FAE, just up the air flow in the tub.

2oz return on 4 litres/qts of spawn should be concering ya!

7/16 ish Pictures

Just a photo dump update, picked the first flush and watered and poured out some water in the tub, and started a second batch that I know is heavily bacterial but I want to see what will come of it. It's worth a try right? I did the second tub with daemons 50/50 tek.
