New Pictures of the PESA

Hello everyone, These PESA are from The Hawks Eye. My friend emailed me these pictures of her new experiments with this strain. They were grown out on whole brown rice, then transfered to wheatstraw and cased with plain vermiculite. They came to 6.1 oz wet. Enjoy.

Its two in the morning......Do you know where your paperbag and flashlight are?

Hey are you my alter-mycologyst? You seem to grow the same strains that I grow at the same time. I just finished some PESA's on straw w/ a little of your compost and they came out looking nothing like your PESA's. Mine were tall and the caps were like a russian minarette w/ a point at the top, they got so big they pushed the top of the container up. They also grew in "clusters" and were super fibrous and there was a bulb at the base, and they had alot of that white foam stuff at the bottom of the mushroom. Were yours minarrette and you let them "wig out?" or were they flat all along?

Hey Tom, glad to hear of your success with the compost, and with the PESA strain. I think that my friends reason for them being flat topped is that she used a 1000 watt high pressure sodium light fixture on them 5 hours a day about eight feet from the top of the growing chamber. Since shes back home now and not in an apartment she has a little more freedom to experiment with more ideas. Bright light tends to mimic nature to some degree, and most times she grows fruit under bright light, she gets flat tops, but when she uses light from say a typical aquaium, most caps tend to stay dome shaped or conical. The close up of one of her pics above does show the remains of the nipple on the cap, but for the most part all her experiments with bright light yeilded flat top caps.They do grow in large clumps(PESA) as you said and the stalks were very meaty according to her. Thanks everyone for the replys.

My stalks weren't meaty but really fibrous and tough, I think they are hollow though. They were kinda thin for how tall they were though.
