...Am I correct in thinking this is an appropriate environment to be looking in? I found plenty of Amanita muscaria and plenty of other mushrooms, but nothing active. It also seemed kind of dry?

maybe try find some fire breaks in those areas and check for them in the grass edges. you got no oarks with bark gardens your way man?

There are parks around with bark gardens, I found a heap of what look like younger Subs but they don't bruise blue and people on here said they likely weren't, so I'm branching out. About to head out now and have another look about for the next hour (it'll probably be dark after about an hour...).

Stick to it dunedin, I checked one place 4 days ago and not a sign, after those 2 days rain there a shrooms for 100 meters, more then I can pick so they grow in odd bunches, odd times. Even when it's dry you'll find some. The caps are heaps lighter in colour is all, nearly cream. But that bluing is pretty necessary. It can take upto an hour for some to blue after they been picked so go check them small ones again! good luck man something will come your way

Finally! I found one single patch of P. subaeruginosa after about 3 hours of hunting on foot. The patch is basically pins, so I'm leaving them for a few days to mature -- usually I come to regret this decision, so please don't pinch my pins, mofos! :hippie:

What a slow start to the season. At least I've got a newpatch to check in on, even if it is pretty far away.
