Seriously, though, I have no problem with toughening up a bit. I don't think it is bad when someone says a quick, humorous aside, it doesn't really interupt the flow of the thread at all, in fact, I think it makes it more interesting... we are alive, damn it, alive! But sometimes threads get derailed and people keep on joking forever, and that is what needs to be prevented.. that and actual flames.

Actually, I think that part of S and P's identity is how you will find quick jokes about something that was said. Myself, I really treasure this, I do it myself. As long as it isn't like blatantly intended to totally hurt someone or to derail the thread, and the person hits return twice and says "Seriously, though, this is what I think on this.... ", then I don't see a problem.

As long as we don't take a joke as an excuse to continue doing so for pages or anything, and we don't consider it a threat or a negative to what we said (unless it really was, and it distinctly shows), then I think we will continue to enjoy an easy going, intriguing and enriching experience that only Spirituality and Philosophy can provide.
