No, he doesn't.  He calls himself a Democratic Socialist.  That's not the same thing at all.

This isn't semantics.  There IS a difference between socialism and democratic socialism.

Enlil was kind enough to provide a link to explain.  I suggest anyone who is confused about the difference read it.

"I am a socialist.  There are in our country probably a dozen DIFFERENT socialist parties...  I happen not to be a member of any."

He happens to be a democratic socialist.  Learn what that means.

Oh okay. Well have fun with that mindset, though I found being that jaded does absolutely nothing good to your quality of life when I was about 16.

It's only that way because we've handed them the keys. It doesn't have to be. And sure Presidency is only a small piece of the puzzle - but a leader that is dedicated to rooting out the sources of corruption is a damn good first step.

Yup.

You're entitled to your opinion though, but judging from what you say about how you "Say things to get people riled up, I like to stir the pot!" I'm guessing your 16 (mentally or physically - its irrelevant) and thus your grasp of what is even going on right now is rather infantile... so that opinion isn't worth much more than the pubescent nihilism that spawned it

A perfect example of how we are not in control of who is president are the two most popular candidates right now. The media chooses who to present, not us. Here is how the media presents it-These are your two options Trump and Hilary. Why? Because they are like celebrities and the media loves celebrities.

Why the fuck do either of those two clowns deserve to be president? They are elites, and they forgot what it is like to be us.

“The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers.”

Here in lies the issue, the majority gets all their information from the news on that given day, instead of putting together an entire picture from the start to the end.

There are barriers, yes, especially in media and election laws - but increasingly people get their information from non-centrally controlled sources, allowing organization outside of the bounds of that which is meant to be controlled. Even if you don't agree with his policies - the amount of popularity Sanders has accrued despite all the usual media tactics levered against him is quite impressive and shows that they don't entirely control the system, they simply tilt it to their favor and use that tilting to lower the morale of opposition into not even attempting to move into power against them. Which is kind of what you're expressing.

Can you name just one libertarian country with a strong middle class?

Think there will even be a middle class if Trump wins?

Democratic socialist is still socialist.

Democratic socialism is insane!  It is MOB RULE!  it's pretty much a circle jerk marjority of thugs going around robbing everyone until no one has anything left and then they cannibalize themselves and their own children.  The Nazis were socialist.

In terms of "free stuff" the legitimate role of government should only be to protect the bill of rights, to maintain law & order, and all maintain necessary custodial/record keeping.

It should NOT intervene in the economy, voluntary trade is both moral and spurs more innovation / product quality.  It means the rich can't screw you because you're not forced to pay.  With socialism they force you to pay for products,  it's economic rape.  Un-consentusl transaction.  Forced trade is never as economically beneficial as mutually consentual, voluntary trade.  With voluntary trade, sellers are forced to innovate and provide high quality/value in order to convince you to trade.  When trade is forced, the seller can provide the worst possible product and you have to pay anyways.

Socialism is forced trade.  It cannot create as much innovation and fair value as a voluntary free market could.  Unfortunately, banks and wall st. Have had the economy rigged for at least a century.  The game is so broken and unbalanced now that the "robber barons" would have an unfair advantage in a voluntary marketplace.

It's like to system needs to be reset, it's so infested with bugs and viruses they we need an economic re-format.  I can't think of how we could fix they imbalances that have gone on so long without some kind of major restructuring, it would probably cause a recession or depression in the short term, but long term it could get better.  Too bad The Fed will not allow the recession to run its course.  It is protecting the financial cheaters, they are the king cheaters at the fed.

End the fed!
