Another anon fake news story and of course you guys fall for it head over heels because it supports the bs against trump. Where did all this "info" come from?

Who of course are not identified. Just trying to stir up russia phobia.

Did you actually read the article or just get triggered by the headline and then go on to create a strawman from the first sentence? If you had read it you'd realize that the article lists numerous sources with direct quotes to back up its initial assertions; that's how people tend to present the more complex ideas they begin to develop after the 4th grade. Just because you don't like something doesn't make it "fake news." Why do you have such an aversion to reality?

You guys seem to have missed this quote

Quote:
"As we have consistently said, DHS has shared information with affected states in a timely manner and we will continue to do so. We have no intelligence — new or old — that corroborates NBC's reporting that state systems in seven states were compromised by Russian government actors. We believe tonight's story to be factually inaccurate and misleading."

If any machines were hacked most likely it was by the hill campaign which did suspiciously well in all areas without a paper trail.

The only one I see by name is some political hack from obama's admin making vague claims but not even he will say what states were allegedly affected. Its all "officials" etc who do not want to be identified.

You also overlooked this part "To this day, six of the seven states deny they were breached, based on their own cyber investigations."

As we have already seen, simply making fb or twitter posts is now considered tampering with the election. And buying an ad, that must be high treason. Unless the dems did it then its different. Ho hum, more of the same fake news

All of that straw is quite a fire hazard stone. Hypothetically let's assume that they did successfully alter votes and compromised the election. Do you guys actually think the US govt, federal or local, would come out and admit it? I'm inclined to think not. I think they would downplay it while trying to fix it behind the scenes and then maybe some time in the future after the threat is behind us they may tell us the truth. If the public knew our elections were compromised and especially if there was not yet a way to sure up their integrity the public would have a shit storm. Not just the US public but the world, what kind of power and influence could we have on the world table if we can't even keep our democracy intact?

:whathesaid:

Like I said earlier 6/7 states denied being compromised even after having it confirmed by 3rd parties (intelligence agencies)...

So if states are unwilling to admit it I doubt the federal government would, at least not until the problem had been fixed at least partially.

We might not fully know just how compromised those states were for awhile, maybe it was pretty minor but we shouldn't just assume that. Any compromise in multiple states is worrying either way.

You mean confirmed by faceless anon spooks afraid to come out of the shadows? Thats all we get anymore, according to "reliable sources" "people close to the investigation" "high govt officials" etc and so on. If the states themselves who surely got all the intel from the spooks still don't believe it, why is it you do? Fervently too.

Vague statements = nothing and most of those are former not present officials and are from the dem administration.

As I say again, if those closest to the situation say there was no hacking then why would we beleive the anon bs?

without commenting on whether i do or don't believe any of them on either side of this issue, one very real possibility for the states not being forthcoming about any intrusion is that it's embarrassing for them if a breach happened.  'their systems weren't protected to the extent their residents expect for the tax money said residents are providing for tech security.'

tl; dr:  a possibility for the state officials lying about intrusions is a CYA situation.

Yes, I think the Government is desperately seeking an enemy to get the people to support an increase in military spending, and Russia is the current target.  If they had anything on Russia that would convince the American people to ramp up military spending, I think they'd use it.

We're both just guessing, of course, but you're taking it a step further by assuming we're being lied to.  If that's the case, then nothing they tell us about Russia really means anything.

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

You realize Trump has been going on about attacking North Korea right? There's your increased military spending/ distraction.... He even had an appointee who wanted to take a "bloodied nose" preemptive strike route.

The russia stuff is all cyber warfare currently, and I don't see it leading to increased spending short of another war breaking out

Though considering Putin just released a statement about "unlimited range nuclear warheads" showing an animation of Florida being nuked who knows:

https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/01/europe/putin-nuclear-missile-video-florida/index.html

Quote:
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday used a concept video of unlimited range nuclear warheads apparently raining down on Florida -- President Donald Trump's home away from home -- to tout his country's new firepower.

Putin boasted about the Kremlin's resurgent military might during his annual address to his nation's Parliament, hyping weaponry that he said would render NATO defenses "completely useless."

If the russia threat is serious I don't see it being a good excuse to ramp up the military budget, the logical response would not be to invade russia or something. The proper response would be increasing our cyber defenses and imposing sanctions on russia as punishment. At most we would launch a cyber campaign against them. They are not physically threatening us after all, it's purely information warfare.

US approves sale of Javelin anti-tank missiles to Ukraine
https://www.ft.com/content/841b0ee4-1dfc-11e8-aaca-4574d7dabfb6
Quote:
Ukraine is on the verge of obtaining 210 Javelin anti-tank missiles and 37 launch units from the US, in a $47m purchase approved by the Trump administration to help the country deter further offensives as the conflict in its eastern regions enters a fifth year.

Formal certification for the sale— which threatens to further test US-Russia relations — was announced late on Thursday by the US Defence Security Cooperation Agency. The agency said the US aims to “help Ukraine build its long-term defence capacity to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity”. The Javelin is one of the world’s most effective portable anti-tank weapons.

In a Facebook posting on Thursday, Ukraine’s president Petro Poroshenko said: “I’m thankful to President Donald J. Trump and his entire team for supporting Ukraine in this important and historic decision . . . Only unity and solidarity will stop the Russian aggressor and preserve the Free World from his maniac ambitions!"
In a Facebook posting on Thursday, Ukraine’s president Petro Poroshenko said: “I’m thankful to President Donald J. Trump and his entire team for supporting Ukraine in this important and historic decision . . . Only unity and solidarity will stop the Russian aggressor and preserve the Free World from his maniac ambitions!”

The deal will support President Trump’s claims that he has been tougher on Russia over Ukraine than the Obama administration. Mr Trump’s predecessor in the White House imposed economic sanctions on Russia but refused to provide Ukraine with lethal arms, fearing it could provoke Moscow into ratcheting up a conflict that has already claimed more than 10,000 lives.

Russia, which denies US and Ukrainian claims it occupied Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region after annexing Crimea in 2014, warned late last year that the US “crossed the line” by arming Ukraine.

Exactly, I don't see why more military spending would even be necessary.

I think that is why Trump has been steadily crashing global relations, the less soft power we have the easier it will be to work around our sanctions.

What you don't seem to realize is he has been playing bad cop instead of obama's good cop which did nothing. T's bombast has caused kim to ratchet down the war talk, stop missile launches and make peace overtures. Under o, he did the opposite, fired missiles, shelled s korea, and sank one of their boats among other things.
