Authentically depressed or delusionally happy?
    #22745745 -

Which is better?  And does it even really matter?

Are those the only two options?

Whether something matters or not is always subject to ones own judgement, meaning that you can basically decide whether it matters or not, because there is no such thing as "objective matter-ment" is basically what I try to communicate, as much as there is no "objective purpose of life".

The answer is whatever you choose the answer to be.

why are people in this world so busy?
just for this one breath
they say, “busy, busy, mine, mine….”
busy a whole lifetime for “Me”
when this breath is cut off..
you let go of the whole universe
why not let go from the start?"

This is idiotic.

Delusionally happy is definitely better.

If it's a kind of beauty-among-the-delusions kind of delusionally happy, kind of like the Mad Hatter's tea party or Alice in Wonderland that's where it's at. :mushroom2:

I dunno, I'm happy about the whether being a little more palatable and being able to spend more time outside and with friends, yet I'm depressed about the ridiculous amount of cruelty and injustice in the world... Why do I have to be a. or not a., or the reverse of a, why can't I be both simultaneously?  I feel like I must live in an altered state of consciousness where Aristotelian logic doesn't rule my mind.  Anyways, I definitely don't want to "have a nice day", I want to have a weird day where I experience something like deja vu and wonder what the fuck it means .

  Depends, I'm freakishly good at standardized tests in say scholastics, especially with the process of elimination, etc.  But I'm far more indecisive at things like the MBTI......  I feel so many of those answers are sometimes, but not always.  When it comes to matters of personal preference, being boxed into multiple choices might just be :ass: inine.

The title would imply that there is some kind of objective critea for being happy or depressed about a given situation.

I think you should try to maximize your enjoyment and minimize suffering and if that means not questioning your happiness I'm all for that. Let all things without remedy be without concern (badly quoted)

Because so far in my life i've chosen authentically depressed, no matter how hard I try to convince myself of authentic happiness I feel at the end of the day it's a delusion.  No amount of prozac and wellbutrin can help shake my comfort of being depressed.

Tell me something that makes you cry...... anything?  I'm just wondering if you feel raw emotion in your depression or if you don't feel anything except self loathing or what?  Does anything make you feel good ever?  Hardcore drugs? MDMA? I mean does anything make you feel like you can look yourself in the mirror and feel good and self accepting and gentle and radiating a loving essence?

I don't really feel much of anything at all.  Just complete and total apathy.  I'm a drug addict so yeah drugs make me feel good.  I'm currently not using right now though.  Just feeling the full on dread of one annoying chore after another that is sobriety and the only thing I look forward too is going to sleep.  Exercise makes me feel good though.

I do something like the MBTI the same way as you do standardized tests -- process of elimination, or selecting the best answer even though it may not be the only answer that seems to apply.

So sorry to hear that man, my heart goes out to you... I dunno, I keep so many things precious to me very close to my heart, the people I've met and places I've been and memories, books, graphic novels, theatre, poetry readings, films.  Everything I love, I take none of it for granted, I keep it near to me and draw on it for strength..  Sure the world may be fucking mad, but do you remember the last time personally everything seemed perfect to you?  Can you remember what it felt like?
