Momentary Vertigo

I had a realization tonight and it sort of hit me like the spins in the middle of my head.  Just for a second, like a little vortex.  This has happened for a long time...i think, not sure how often or wether it's always triggered by the same thing. It may also be just lingering inebriation from some experience.  Tonight is the first time I can recall associating it with anything specific, though I may have before and I don't remember.  It's as though I remember the experience  during the experience exclusively.  Anybody else know what I mean? A tiny rush of vertigo as a result of some mental process.....or some other cause you can remember :rasta:?

i've had that ussually when i'm thinking and something else draws my attention and I start thinking about something else and then a third thing that really demands attention like a knock on the door or some one calls my name but all three things happen in quick succession, and the two thing being thought about seem really important. i ussually cannot remember the two thoughts easily when this happens and there is a spinning sensation when it happens.

not quite what you experienced

other things that have caused vertigo for me

colds

overheating

not enough fluids

standing up quickly

I've had that, unfortunately the strongest experience with that I can recall is a terrifying one. I glimpsed the edge of it last night when I said "5 million" for some reason thinking about large numbers can but doesn't always trigger the response. It's hard to remember when I'm not in it, or at the edge of it... I just remember that it's almost impossible to get out of unless I have some friendly human or animal contact. I'm learning to reason myself out, and havn't been drawn fully in for quite a long time. As awful as it is it's teaching me a lot about my psyche and making me stronger.

Hmmm...interesting replies guys. I can relate to your experiences as well. So the vertigo you experience is lingering Nyx? Strangeness.
Thanks for the suggestion Shroomism. I'm curious as to why you think ginseng would be useful. I don't necesarilly dislike the feeling because it is very brief. But if it indicates somethhing else that ginseng can help, i'm curious about it.

I've had that feeling. Well, I think I've had it. It almost feels like the room is spinning. Low blood pressure will cause that sensation, also. I have really, really low blood pressure.

I'm interested, also, in how ginseng is good for that.

ginseng decreases blood coagulation, cholesterol and sugar levels in the blood. It also stimulates the immune system. The biomechanical mechanisms of ginseng are debated, but it is generally considered to be useful with its effects on the brain, neuroendocrine function, immune function, and cardiovascular health.

I'm no vertigo expert but I assume it has something to do with blood flow to the brain, which ginseng is a helpful regulator for. It was the first thing that popped into my head.


Ok... I just did a little research.. these herbs are helpful:

gingko biloba
ginseng
dong quai root
skullcap

Be careful with Dong Quai, if you're female DON'T TAKE IT DURING YOUR PERIOD!! Otherwise it's a great herb. It's important to make sure you know all the indications before popping pills, even herbal pills.

hrm?... dong quai's most popular use is for treating pms, menstrual cramps and irregularities. It is recommended to balance dong quai with other menstrual regulating herbs like siberian ginseng or licorice. But the only ill effect I know of for dong quai during the menstrual cycle is that it may increase bleeding. And of course one shouldn't go around just eating random herbs, one should do some research prior.. but certainly herbs in general are MUCH safer than almost any pill.
