Are you prescribed Abilify or just taking it to try and get jacked up on something?
I was prescribed this shit when I was 15 to help combat anxiety other drugs they had me on were causing. It all made me sick.
Abilify is a waste of your time if you are seeking the latter part of my initial question, if you can get your hands on some Datura, that is something you will never forget and might give you something more relevant and worthwhile to write about.

No, I said it may give you something more rich to write about. I wouldn't recommend that to anyone, people need to recommend that one to themselves.
Have you tried different routes for your depression other than the pharmacological route?

I was thinking something more along the lines of an hour or so in nature a day, depending on the root cause of the depression. That helps my bio-chemically induced depression at least.

If an hour a day helps then you're not very depressed. I could spend 6 hours a day outside and hardly dent mine.

Heh, it helps but on a subtle level. It clears the clouds brought in by human society, but not the turmoil beneath the soil.

I hike in the Mountains a minimum of an hour a day. Often two or more. It certainly helps but no cure. I need drugs also. It helps more but also is no cure.

About drugs, Kratom, would you say from your place of experience that it helps your depression? Any lethargies or downsides?

I've known people who took Abilify; one was actively schizophrenic and the other had a lot of anxiety and OCD-like stuff. The schizophrenic friend seemed to think it was very helpful, but didn't like how it effected his creative process. Because he had so much difficulty functioning he was glad to have it, though. The person with the anxiety etc. generally resented being on it.
I don't recommend taking it, man...but you know the most about your situation and I think you should consider your choice carefully. Go read about side effects, the desirable effects, think about how it makes you feel, and ask yourself: is this really helping me?
If I were feeling very depressed, I might try experimenting with micro-dosing...there have been some really interested threads on this recently.

The downside of antidepressants is the sexual instinct is often suppressed during their use. There are some that do it a lot less, apparently Avanza is like this. On Zoloft I almost entirely lost my libido, used to spank it daily then it changed to about once a fortnight. Avanza was the alternative but I have this messed up reaction to many of these pharms where if something shocks me or takes my attention, I get this jolt or momentary vertigo, while on the pharm. Antipsychotics don't do it but the others do.
Abilify is a strong antipsychotic with some mood improvement too. But since it's antipsychotic the first thing it's going to do is slow you down slightly. It's probably a poor choice for depression but they would have given it to you if you refused SSRIs.
SSRIs don't really blunt emotions that much and it's only if you've got a great sex life that you'd want to avoid them. You won't be a zombie or extremely happy without deserving it or anything. You should try them then just come off if it doesn't work. Abilify is some hard shit.

Big help. Downside is I'm addicted.

Can you guys disclose more about your depression? The ones who say it's biological.. I'm not suggesting I don't buy it, but for me it was always kind of a choice, and still is. (I'm not biologically depressed..at least I don't think)
Is it a numbness to life? Or just a constant sadness?

I was under the impression that kratom was non-addictive... But looking further into it, I guess its not all that uncommon.
I had an issue with opiates in my late teens, but know if I am paying attention I'll be fine.
What sort of addiction relationship is it? Is it a personality thing or chemical in its nature?

Its hard to say, now that I am older I typically assume that my depression results from some underlying subconscious cause. But depression depends on biological mechanisms to exist, either way.
I've had girlfriends laughing while bawling their eyes out all hormonal from their periods talking about how it makes them extremely depressed for absolutely no valid reason.
