Kick out the fucking illegals and the workers can get jobs in construction and in real restaurants that cannot be automated.

There still won't be enough jobs. The population is only going to keep growing. They will automate far more than just fast food jobs. We can't just keep constructing forever there is limited space and resources. This idea that everyone has to work menial bullshit jobs in order to "deserve" basic living necessities is unsustainable.

So you want your welfare check?

You cannot automate most construction, which are not menial jobs even thouhg pencil neck geeks like to think they are.  And you cannot automate real restaurants.  Those are not minimum wage jobs.  There are a lot of things you can't automate but if the job is minimum wage it probably isn't one of them and if they raise it a lot of mooks are gonna be put on the street.

You bring up a good point, anyone at a bad (to work at) restaurant should try their hardest to be the best worker they can be, and get a job at a better restaurant. Even my dishwashers start out at 25c above minimum for a 60 day trial after which I can raise it 50c (to 75c above min). It's nowhere close to a 5 or even 4-star restaurant either, just a slightly upscale kitchy diner. Sous chefs at real 5-star places can earn a lot.

How many cooking shows are on TV with talented chefs just begging to get some scrap of a job. What percentage of the chefs are actually on those shows? There aren't enough of jobs and too many chefs. It's the same with most professions.

As far as I can tell they all have jobs.  Kick the illegals out and there will be plenty of construction jobs in the NYC are for Americans.

In what way are these abstractions or borderline apocalyptic scenarios? Everyone knows they will automate large amounts of low paying jobs. It's a fact that the population has been growing exponentially. Sorry you have your head in the clouds. And people call liberals idealists.

The population has not been growing exponentially and automation comes when labor gets expensive and is simple.  What line do they want to get their welfare check from?  Disaled or just useless?

You know what's funny? These ILLEGALS y'all complain about actually come over here and work 10 x as hard as you and end up with their own multi million dollar businesses.

My ex boss at the gas station who is a millionaire now with a nice .5 million dollar home and 4 nice cars told me he worked 12 hours a day when he first got over to this country for 4 years and didn't take a day off. He bought his first own business. It started bringing in a little money. Next thing he knows he owns 6 gas stations now. Only works 4 hours a day now and never on sunday.

Anyone can make it in this country. YOU GOTTA WORK YOUR ASS OFF though. You gotta want more than just to survive.

Nothing in life is easy.. Especially anything worth having. Unless you win the lottery but 99.99% of us are not that lucky. You want that nice car? You gotta work hard. You want that nice home? You gotta work hard. You want that beach body? You gotta work hard. You want your own business? You gotta work your ass off for a long time. I hope to be a motivational speaker one day.

There will always be jobs for those that deserve them.  Period

You are just stammering at this point

I hope you have what it takes to make it.  If you don't, well I will think of you in the way I think of lifers at minimum wage jobs who think they deserve more but don't go get it

I flipped burgers for $4.25/hr when I was 16. By the time I was 22, I had a job working in a shop making $20/hr. My point is, that minimum wage jobs are like training wheels. They are for teenagers who want some extra cash. They teach these young folks to have work ethics. Most people start out working in these types of jobs. Then, they use their experience to build a resume and land a better job. And work up from there.

If you are in your mid 20's and still working for minimum wage, 99% of the time it is because you don't work hard and your not motivated to improve your life. Zappa's right. Adults that are working for minimum wage are generally losers. IMO.

Look at any graph of population growth. What's your point? As technology advances, automation will get simpler.

Ok buddy. Why don't you explain to me how my points are incorrect instead of just claiming that I am stammering. Oh wait you can't.

This doesn't have anything to do with me. So ridiculous. Just because you only argue from personal experience and what affects you doesn't mean everyone else does.

It's hard to find jobs that are not minimum wage nowadays without having experience in certain areas of trades. I mean. For crying out loud, I am IT. I have a college degree and it's still hard for me to land a job all because I don't have the experience they require.

Often when people say "you" they don't mean exactly you

Well we have established two things...

1. You have nothing really left to add
2. You tolerate loser behaviour and think people should be taken care of without putting in the work for it

Be on your way

What is your expertise on the NYC area construction industry?  None.  I am usually the only native English speaker on the jobsite.  If the population grows there will need to be more construction.

That is an unfortunate reality, hopefully the chance of a better life can sustain those really struggling to find something. At this point I think many could still find better elsewhere; Looking at my Craigslist now I see listings for this nice Midwest pizza chain (Dewey's) which from what I've heard starts most pizza makers at $2+ minimum and an opening for a Sous Chef at the only 4-star restaurant just in my town of ~25,000. Only a portion of what's available in the whole (~3mil) metropolitan area.  Wouldn't doubt that Sous job pays more than I make actually.. :strokebeard:

Lol ok, I'm sure you weren't referring specifically to me. No what we have established is that you can't actually argue with my points and instead just keep desperately clinging to the idea that men with backbones will make it no matter what. An idea which is painfully naive and quixotic.
