* As Wal-mart moved into America's urban areas (as opposed to suburban, where Wal-Mart began), it racked up over 12,000 lawsuits. * In the 1970s Wal-Mart promised to keep its stores closed on Sundays, in the 80s began to keep its stores open Sudnays, and later it kept some stores open 24 hours a day. * Wal-Mart promised it would never sell alcohol, and it is now the largest retailer of spirits in the United States. * Wal-Mart now has a massive presence in Canada, Britain, Germany, and Mexico, as well as stores in Brazil, China, Korea, and Puerto Rico. * Close to 900,000 people are employed by Wal-Mart in America, and no Wal-Mart stores are unionized, except in China. (Thanks to Amy for pointing out that most Wal-Mart stores in China are unionized.) * Wal-Mart is the biggest retailer in the world, and it did over $165 billion in sales in 1999. * An article in Forbes magazine's 1991 "400 Richest" issue described Wal-Mart's basic concept as "Discount stores in small towns and rural areas, each big enough to freeze out competiton." * Wal-Mart dodges taxes. A lot. * New Wal-Mart stores study what local independent stores sell and sell it for less--often at a loss--with the aim of forcing independent businesses out of business. * a 1995 survey in Iowa revealed what had happened in that state since Wal-Mart had arrived in 1983:
o 50% of clothing stores had closed o 30% of hardware stores had closed o 25% of building materials stores had closed o 42% of variety stores had closed o 29% of shoe stores had closed o 17% of jewellery stores had closed o 26% of department stores had closed
* On average, about 100 stores go out of business in the area surrounding a town with a new Wal-Mart store. * According to Residents for Responsible Growth of Lake Placid, New York, for every job created by Wal-Mart, at least 1.5 jobs are lost, and numerous other studies give similar figures.

i drink them while i work. i sweat allot and have to keep drinking water all day even if i don't want to or i will pass out from the heat/dehydration. the melon flavor to it is kinda bonus. i didn't know you could get diabetes from it though. my ex drinks this stuff all day everyday, i will have to share that fact with her.

Also, since most WalMart employees are too poor to afford health insurance, a lot of them depend upon their State's Medicaid program for their health care. WalMart is truly the devil....

I agree that Walmart is evil, but I'm lower middle class, so its the only place that i can really afford to shop on a regular basis. Not to mention they let me "rent" all the hottest new electronics as long as I keep the receipts.

sucralose is a very new substance on the market. the last two 0 calorie sweeteners proved to be toxic for humans. why consume large quantities of something that you don't have any idea what it might do to you? why have anything in your water besides water? what is wrong with pure cane sugar?

People are so fucking stupid, they want to have their cake and eat it too. I don't understand whats so hard about eating real sugar but simply eating less of it throughout your day. Instead people would rather endlessly consume a bunch of chemicals that taste sweet (because they certainly doesn't taste like sugar) as opposed to practicing some self control and moderation. Whenever I see someone drinking a diet soda I cringe. How about you drink a real soda (bleh) every couple of days instead of diet soda every hour you twat?
All the people that will inevitably get cancer from this shit deserve it.

Then you go through their orientation, they have this union tape, they keep it in lock up. They don't take it out till it's time to watch it, and after it's done, they lock it back up. I'm sorry if that's hard to understand. I'm very tired, I worked from 10pm till 9 am. At wal-mart.

You got to hand it to the food industry for finding products that make sugar into a health food.
And stop shopping at Wal-Mart. If you can't afford retail alternatives, which I doubt, turn on your tap and pour water into jugs. Add actual sugar and some juice. Bingo, healthy, nontoxic alternative for a nickel.

walmart really sucks, for all the reasons previously mentioned here.
foods with chemicals in them really suck, for all the reasons previously mentioned here.
i'd recommend to be conscious about what you eat, the economies you support, and the externalities (even the internal ones) that these decisions have.
sure, walmart is a bit cheaper, but also causes people to lose their jobs/lose wages/lose health-care/etc/etc/etc - it may be cheap as hell, but if we all follow that economic model, nobody will be able to afford even the cheap crap they sell.
support local (and/or fair-trade based) economies, that's my opinion...

Whether you used slurs or not does not matter. What matters is that you had to "brave" people of a different ethnicity than yours.

The cheapest place for you to shop is "evil"? So if they jacked their prices up a few times, they'd be better?
If all of these mom-n-pop local companies had the reach and ability that WalMart does to keep a wide range of products in stock at a low price, people would shop there. Walmart didn't sent out thugs to burn these places down, they opened up a business. If more people went to Wal-Mart than Joes Hardware, then the people of that town made the decision as to what stays and what goes. If a better company comes alone, people will shop there.
Lets say that a spore vendor started selling 5 syringes for 5$, would most people shop there? Of course. Would it have an effect on the business of other spore vendors? Of course. Is their anything wrong with the cheaper company? Of course not. If you don't like a store, you don't shop there. CAlling a company evil is just ignorant.
