Fan Drying Query

A friend is nearing the time to dry his magic mushrooms. However, loudness is a bad thing, because he lives with other people. The fan is a medium, generic type fan. It's about 4-5 inches away from the wire which the mushrooms will be place upon. Usually, do people put the fan on high? Or will medium work (It's not a computer fan, it's an actual medium sized house fan so...)? Suggestions?

as long as there is a steady air current circulating the fruits at all times, by wire Im sure you mean rack? which is what you want. med to med-low should suffice, you don't want them flying around the room (just yet ) Fan dry for a day or two (to make sure) then put in a dessicant chamber, you can find dessicant at the home section of wal-mart or any grocery store. make sure the fan dried fruits are elevated and are not touching the dessicant, use a small rubber maid container, use a half of an empty egg carton, with holes poked all over and place the fruits on top of this then on top of the dessicant, cover with press n' seal or quick wrap.
or do whatever you want.

The main thing you need is air exchange, really. Keep the air moving all around them with the fan on low or medium and you'll get them dry pretty quick. You'll have to use a dessicant to get the shrooms cracker dry tho. Good luck.

How long would a fan dried shroom last compared to a cracker dry one?
