No and it is not a trick. Those are real giant A. muscria sculptures at the King of Thailand's private gardens in Bangkok

In Fact there are dozens of the Amanitas on the Palace grounds here where I was.

Mj I have spent alot of time in some really remote parts of Thailand and like to go forageing with some Thai friends of mine for whatever we can find for dinner. Sometime we find some really nice mushrooms and have never tried to identify them while i was there. Next time I go maybe this summer if I stumble upon some shrooms while I am there where should I go to identify them? Since it is so far from BKK they probably wouldnt last long and I would have to fight my buddies off from eating them

Find out the local names for the shrooms. There are Thai Mushroom Id books for sale in most Thai Bookstores and at Thai university bookstores.

Are you talikng edible shrooms or magic shrooms?

And probablynop [place for you to go to identify them. If locals pick them they sell them at markets and sometimes they do not pick healthy shrooms and sometimes they have poisoned villages with bad shrooms. Be careful

Although that comment is off-topic from the Amanita at the palace in P Bangkok, I suppose Shifting Walls, that every image of me is different throughout the years. I am the shroom face of 1000 species.

Here are a few examples of my difference.

Taken from my The Allen Family CD rom which has my family history from 1890 up till last year.

Then try to get the local names for the shrooms, buy one of the three main Thai language Shroom Guides and then find someone who speaks good Thai/English and check the photos for the mushrooms you are interested in. then maybe asked a mycologist at a local University int he Biology or Microbiology Departments.

There are two U's oin Changmai and several in Bangkok.
