Stropharia multispore grow log taken from 2003 prints(Update Clones Fruiting) * 1

:chief:STROPHARIA Multispore From 2003 Print:chief:

Brought to you by THE TRIBE

This was the old misnomered cube they used to call "stropharia".

The prints were taken from this grow in 2003. They ended up being lost in the mix of a number of hundreds of prints. On a fun search, this print labeled "Stropharia 2003" was found. Spores were placed on agar via a swab and germination was hopeful at best. As you can see below this old grow had surgery done to the substrate. Contamination was eliminated and a clean print was taken.

Well, low and behold the spores germinated after 12 years. Wow. This is a first for me. The only difference to me than most cubes was that it had stems that were extremely solid and cracked upon breaking. More solid than most stems being worked with over the years.

The spores germinated at about the same speed as other varieties. Here is a pic of a few different cubes that were swabbed at the same time.

The plate was taken and tiger dropped into a master on wbs grain. The stropharia is the 3rd from the left. Tiger Drop

Grain was prepped using Fooman's Grain Tek

STROPHAIA Tub 1: cased: 5 Quarts Spawn: 10 Quarts Strawnet/Coir/dash of gypsum/ 1/2 cup of supercake Substrate:

STROPHAIA Tub 2: cased: 5 Quarts Spawn: 10 Quarts Strawnet/Coir/dash of gypsum:   final shots. took some clones. hand was not steady tonight. don't know if i fucked this one up. ive got plenty more plates and spawn. this log will continue on later this year. dense and meaty fruits. the stems crack. 12 year old multispore aborted like hell.
im hoping to take some prints on the next run. maybe even 2nd flush. but shes a beauty.

all right. these two tubs are from the cloned tub in the previous post. we are feeding these babies some coir/verm/dung/gypsum mix. 5 quarts of spawn per tub there will also be a tub 3 and a few grain masters were saved for transfer to do a follow up round. hopefully the clone turns out good. im trying to take some good prints to pass on this old variety that was lost over the years. end goal is to spread the spores.

Slicksmooth-double-O-seven-style.  You should do a giveaway of prints from these fruiting as to reintroduce these genes back into the population.

Hmm but isn't stropharia cubensis also known as the Cuban strain of psilocybe cubensis? If so I'm so interested in having some prints if possible. Thanks for your time.

im not sure. someone mentioned the old oss and oeric grow kits. that this could be the cubensis that came with those kits. but i don't know the background on it. i only know that around 2002 it was given to me by an old reputable vendor.

I'm dying to get my hands on some spores, I've even considered making a trip to the island to collect spores from the mushrooms but it's not fool-proof. I remember My mom would tell me storys of how they would grow everywhere by the :sagan: and no one in Cuba dares to eat them because they're so uneducated they'd rather not take the risk of eating a poisonous shroom. I want to expand a few minds over there if/when I visit. I'd like to spread the seed knowledge in a country somewhat closed off from the rest of the world. If you haven't already guessed it I'm a Country Boy Cubensis

Thanks. Yeah i tried an A + from 09 and it didnt germinate. I was very surprised. It is a cube variety they misnamed stropharia in the 90s. most of my 5 plus year old prints germinated and i have current grow logs on them. the only one that didn't was the A+. I will try the A+ again.
