I put an add up for free phalaris seeds on CR and got a call from two older woman same night
    #21692679 -

So yeah, put the ad up maybe an hour or two ago and just got this funny call from two older ladies asking me about the grass.

They wanted to know if it would be harmful to any dogs or cats potentially if they used it to landscape, I told them my dog eats phalaris all the time

It is everywhere so I wouldn't be surprised if theirs does too.

Anyways I just thought it was weird, I think they may just want it to landscape with or something but they phone call just tripped me out. They both sounded like middle aged woman so I don't know why else they would want it... I just thought the whole thing was funny, will give them some whatever they intend to do with it. Maybe I can ask them to send me there grass currings in return
:rofl2:

hmm. maybe they thought it was some kind of fancy lawn-grass and didnt bother looking it up.

a quick google search of "phalaris grass" will tell them all they need to to know.

yes, its toxic to some livestock. i dunno about dogs though. wiki mentions sheep and cattle

Do the seeds contain DMT or just the grass?

That applies to sheep and stuff living off the grass though.

Not a dog or cat which at most would much on a bit of leaves now and then

They definitely didn't bother looking it up, and your probably right about them thinking it was fancy lawn grass too.

I wonder the same thing. From what I have read grass blades are the most potent but some seeds flower and turn a cool blue/red/pink hue that makes me wonder.

Same with roots, there is no research into either though that I am aware of  I have seen some red and woody looking roots though on some of my older plants.

Seems very possible to me, most other trpytamine sources like trees contain it throughout the plant. Like root bark, leaves and some seeds and other various parts.

hmmm.. Cool shit man..

You growin' it? It sure looks interesting. Probably hard to cultivate a reasonable amount though huh?

there might be trace ammounts, but nothing extractable. the dried plant only has .1%, so i'd guess that the seeds have less than .01%

if they were worth extracting there would be a tek by now

The amount can vary, as with other things.

Some probably have less then .01% even in the most potent parts, others hit at least .3+%

Though I have heard dried grass is less potent so fresh yields could be even higher.

Yes you could Matt, especially if you seeded it with a known potent variety and even more so if you use clones so the potency is uniform :crazy2:

Should I strip all the grass up so you just see clay first, or just aerate and seed over the existing grass? Can I get a large bag of this seed? Is it hard to obtain? I'm guessing it'll take more than a trip to the home depot.

i'd imagine you'd have to let the grass fully mature before you get a decent yield

i could be wrong but i really doubt you can just grow it, mow your lawn every 2 weeks and extract the immature clippings

who knows though, all plants are different and all i know about this one is basically whats on wiki, so you may be onto something

I could definitely allow a 20x40ft patch grow 4ft tall without drawing attention.

I have some spots in my yard I haven't been mowing recently and now there is seeding phalaris popping up all over

It does take time, especially from seed, but like I said about cloning it can definitely be feasible.

As to where you can get seeds, I could send you some  of at leas 1 or two kinds. But it also is available on various sites, maybe locally but idk

You could just look it up and try to ID some as it is incredibly common.
