Seriously, low fat and high carb diets work well also. Assuming you have no blood sugar problems.

Some people can eat whatever the hell they wnt without any problems. Very few though.

I know this guy, who says that low carb diets are best. I don't know if I'm calling it the right thing, but he believes that you should eat meat first, followed by veges and fruits, and bread last, if you can avoid it at all.

My uncle was told to get off the atkins diet by a doctor, he was thirty and in a checkup, the doctor said, "I'm puzzled, your blood work is showing early signs of heart and kidney disease." "I'm on the atkins diet." "well, get off of that RIGHT NOW!"

Actually he wasn't. Buddha was as skinny as a rail for a long time because of extensive fasting, until he formulated the Middle Path and started eating a moderate amount of food.

Those statues you see of a fat little laughing man or not images of Siddhartha anyway...images of the Siddhartha look quite different.

Once again, way to go team for making judgements based on something as silly as a little statue.

I am on the Atkins diet myself and so have to decline Swami's cookies.

Most people don't understand, and this includes most doctors (especially doctors) what Atkins really is.

Atkins is a three part program.  Sirreal, if you are doing it you know exactly what I am talking about.  The parts are:

1.  The diet. (what you eat)
2.  Exercise (what you do)
3.  Vitamin supplements

No one that I know of has had any problems if they do all three.

And if his uncle had problems he wasn't doing the program correctly.

So, you might ask, how much did I lose?

Fourty-four pounds and counting!  :eek:

At nearly 6' 3" and 230 pounds I have trimmed down to 185 pounds in 8 weeks.

And I feel GREAT!  Tomorrow I go for some blood work to have all my levels checked.

Atkins for LIFE!

As long as your ketone bodies don't get out of hand... the Atkins diet is reasonably safe.  Ketosis really sucks... kidney failure and all.  :wink:

Yes, you must be a little familiar with it in order to say such things.  Actually, and I don't have time for a long-winded dissertation on it, the Atkins diet promotes lipolysis, which includes ketosis.

And Atkins warns all readers not to do his program if they already have kidney problems.  He also recommends anyone on his program to monitor their level of ketosis using ketone strips.  During the induction phase my ketone level was quite high.  It was in the "moderate" range.  Then I tapered it back by the introduction of more carbs until I am just barely at the "trace" range.

So I am still burning fat (lipolysis) and continuing to lose weight.  My target weight is 175.

I am more than a little interested what my doctor will say about all this.  I went on the program without his consent! :eek:

Btw, I have little use for allopathic medicine.  My bout with cancer taught me to treat anything they say with a grain of salt until I research it myself.

Many allopathic physicians are jackasses in my experience. I find that osteopaths (DO instead of MD) are more open-minded. It has everything to do with their Kirksville-style training. hehe

Absolutely! All three are very important. The last two are important regardless of what you eat.

My mother has reduced her number of insulin injections by six shots a day! She will soon be off of insulin completely. Her doctor is very supportive.

JEsus christ, you guys know nothing of how buddha ate, or how jesus ate.

The atkins diet is horse shit to be honest, have you ever heard of a raw food diet? Or a fruitarian...or a vegan raw foodist?

Now THOSE are healthy diets, if you follow them correctly.
