How can a mind observe while it creates what is being observed?

That's simply self awareness. I wouldn't call it a soul. Perhaps the human brain is a little more complex than you previously thought, and that's okay. But we don't need to make stuff up to fill in the blanks of what we don't know.

No, we don't.

I'll tell you how its explained to me.

Your soul is the being you are. Its nonphysical and resides in the realm of dreams. There it has a spirit body.

Your earthly body, including your brain, is a space suit. Your brain is a backup copy of the knowledge the spirit body is accumulating.

You don't need the brain.

My favorite thought experiment is the Major Kong situation:

In that situation, your entirely earthly body would instantly vaporize.

The glove (body) would be instantly ripped completely off the hand (part of your spirit body that docks with your earthly body)

Your spirit is not trapped in the body, it wears the body like a glove on an appendage. Your spirit body is MUCH BIGGER than your eartly body.

NO MATTER WHAT, YOUR SPIRIT WILL SEPARATE FROM YOUR BODY.

Dont worry about that, death is a failsafe mechanism.

I'm glad to hear that this is agreed upon

Although I have to air on the side of caution - I'm still gonna ask not to get shot in the head if I have "any last words"

In case there's anything that the DMT (or whatever is released) does for the soul and experience. If you create a 4th dimensional universe in your mind (my theory) then you would want the brain to taper out rather than get blown up.

Dunno though

But also, if it's like a spacesuit - we die without out spacesuits on (in space

If it's like a glove, what if destroying the glove punctures through into the soul? Who's to say the soul can't be damaged? That the souls immortal?

Just something I picked up on reading through different religious mumbo jumbo. And also reading about how people are labeled as being dead for so long, then waking up in a morgue or at a viewing. Makes me think something else in the brain is still operating on backup generators.

You could Google "spirit leaves after three days".

My friend was dead for like 12 minutes before the ambulance got there and resuscitated him. Do i care if you believe me or not? No, but i thought you outta know.

The problem here is that you're making too much sense for this section of the forum.  This is the place for people who believe whatever makes them feel good.  When you talk about "burden of proof," you might as well be speaking chinese.

"if you get shot in the head - does your spirit still release from your body?"

This to me sounds like the old joke - "have you told your parents you're gay?"

The question itself presumes something to be true which is not necessarily so.

Do they know your gay?

And by the way...

If you are here and queer...

Will you tickle my pickle for a nickle?

Let's try something here.  Since you and the op both seem to agree on the existence of a "soul", you must both have relatively similar definitions of what it is.

Why don't you both pm me your definitions (for the sake of being blind to each other's), and then I'll post them to the thread.  I just want to see if people who use the word "soul" agree with each other as much as they think they do.

I mean, I don't recall ever hearing a coherent definition of what a soul is in the first place, so maybe I'll be enlightened.  But don't tell me what a soul isn't (eg: "A soul is something immaterial," or something "you can't see or touch".)  Tell me what a soul is.

I vaped around 100 mg of N,N-DMT and was told to deny Christ to go on the best trip of my life.

I didn't deny Christ and never even had visuals. It was like His Name cut out the signal.

Theres speculation that the pineal gland and a release of DMT in the brain cause the soul to disconnect from the body and enter the universal conscious or what have you

But if your brain gets destroyed before this can happen - does your spirit die?

"Soul" is an archaic word for mind. It is from the Latin 'anima/animus,' 'psyche' in Greek. Soul means mind (different than spirit) and it is not substantial, not a substance. Mind doesn't fill the skull like a gas or a liquid, it has no extension in space or time, it is immaterial. Therefore, it cannot "disconnect from the body." In fact, from a biblical point of view, the soul is psychosomatic - mind AND body together. The body without the mind is a corpse. The mind without a body remains a mystery. There is no legitimate answer to your question, but you may choose to 'believe' whatever doctrine tickles your mind. Regardless, explanations are all fabrications.

It might not be so bad to approach spiritual possibilities with an er of logic and rationality. However, it is impossible to prove to anyone that supernatural stuff exists - they just explore and experience the stuff for themselves

I don't know if I believe in the idea of a soul, or spirituality in general, but I know SOMETHING is going on - I have a little bit of evidence to suggest that there might be more outside of the self.

That said - I don't ever take anyone elses words as right or wrong - I take other peoples words as proof of their experience, or something similar

But I think a lot of this has more to do with "Feeling Good" and I've tried extremely hard to make sure that is not why I'm doing this. That said - I think the most likely after-death experience is whatever each individual believes they will experience. And I mean believe as in subconsciously. This might be true if DMT actually is released within the body upon death

I'll PM you my idea of "soul"
