Yeah, Alan Stone posted what I was going to say. That's why I'm giving all my friends fresh, tasty home-made absynthe this year.

I've never actually hallucinated from sleep deprivation, but I've only ever done 74 hours straight. Legally the cops can toss you in a mental instituation if you've been awake for 72 hours and refuse to sleep.

It did become a capitalist holiday, because we are urged to consume. If it were a communist holiday, we'd give handmade gifts and not pre-wrapped gifts right off the conveyor belt.

yes, okay. But within many families you will find different classes, so in those situations, it is a redistribution of wealth.
