Administrative Disconduct.

With the sham of the past 2 weeks drama,
i feel as a community member,
misrepresented by our community administrators.
going by what Ythan said, and the actions that were taken and questioned, noted in red:

Closing OTD definitely does not respect the wishes of our members. I still haven?t seen a well thought out and articulate post explaining the reasoning behind this action. You could argue that we do not have to be concerned with the will of the OTD members, since those are the people we?re trying to get rid of anyway. I would argue against this. Even if people hate OTD and never read it, when they see the admins acting in a way which disregards the will of any large group of members, they lose confidence in our ability and desire to respect their ownership of the BB. Further, I?m not exactly sure whose interests we are trying to respect by closing the forum. I certainly didn?t see posts in any of the other forums calling for its removal or reform.

they acted with complete & absolute disregard to consensus.
the events that unfolded, cleary demonstrates the recklessness & damage the Community Admins
have caused by thier own ill intent.
They did Not have the communities best interest at heart.
That is completely UNACCEPTABLE for people of power, who are supposed to represent the community.



Now i understand people make mistakes, shit happens,
but with every action, there is a consequence.
and that consequence, leaves myself, as well as others in a new state of distrust.
how can we trust community admins when they have proved to us how much they disregarded consensus?

i see it as having 3 options:

the 2 community administrators (geokills and papaver)
step down as admins, noting thier failure by misrepresenting the community.
when & if that happens:

hopefully A)Ythan will apoint new admins who better represent the communities best interests, or B)we act on consensus, for 2 New Administrators who are appointed BY the community, nomination style.


or

Keep the current Admins, noting the good they have done for the site in the past,
WITH the ADDITION of 2 NEW Administrators who are appointed BY the community,
nomination style.


or

take no action.



lets let the Community decide by consensus, shall we?

I only have a minute right now so I can't post a long drawn-out message like my last one, but in light of the fact that my words are being used to call for the removal of two extremely dedicated admins, I felt I should at least weight in with a quote from one of my other posts:

I would definitely have gone about things differently, and I think people have a right to be upset. With that said, how about some respect for the people who are working to improve things around here? I may not have approved of the way that OTD was handled, but I feel like totally delegitimizing the efforts of these past few days has been a huge mistake. Pap and Geo are smart, hard-working, dedicated admins. They obviously have the best interests of the page in mind. I feel like they made an honest error in judgement, and that's all. I could have made the same mistake if I didn't already have years of experience managing bulletin boards, from the Shroomery and my web page before it. Throwing out the work they've put into this, especially when it's days away from being concluded, is a slap in the face. It's disrespectful. It's arrogant. It's an affront to the countless hours they've spent trying to make this site a better place. It's not something I condone or support.

So come on, give the guys a break. Is there anyone in these forums who has never made a mistake while trying to do the right thing? If there is, send me an e-mail. You can have my admin position. :smirk:
