My grandpa started at AT&T as a janitor in the early 70s

By the early 80s he worked his way up to CEO of both AT&T and a company called US west.

He died a multimillionaire, but all of that went to his wife whom hates everyone and keeps her millions plus my grandpas money..

It's sad but hey, I didn't work for it.

Just amazing.

By the very nature of our economic system some of the people must be poor. Our system promotes the opposite of equality. It promotes the idea that some people should live excessively and gluttonously while 5 miles down the road, others  struggle to find their next meal.

You are right in a sense and there are fewer people who manage poverty well today. My grandmother could take a 100 dollars to grocery store and come out with way longer supplies than any of you.
You don't need a new cell phone or a phone at all. People over 60 understand that shit. People in their 20s do not. Nor do people need cable. Or a new car, or brand name clothes. The fact is dude was not cheap, he was frugal. He never spent his last 20 at an over priced club, ever in his life. What people today consider necessities is crazy, you can live with no internet. Hell I steal toilet paper from work.
I think what this guy did was very doable, anyone can save money no matter how poor.

I'm sorry, but where in that article does it say he earned minimum wage? I seriously doubt someone who held down the same job for that long earned anything close to minimum wage.

I think I remeber some economics teacher showing me a graph of what if someone made minimum wage and saved this much with this much of a budget for living expenses that he would be a millionaire when he retired.

Still with the death tax it's better to spend it or give it away before you die

The average pay of a janitor is around 15 bucks an hour . I'm sure wood cutter is around 10-12.
Also lol for people "letting him work" fuck it was probably why he lived till 92. When retired people just do nothing they die pretty fast. I plan to work till I die in some sense even if it's just odd jobs fixing shit.


It just shows if you work hard live within your means and invest wisely you can have a comfortable life.

I never got the reason why people who work with there hands and back are always poor scum . It's especially bad for the younger generation and on this site. You can make a shit ton of money with knowing a trade. Also of you get into one of the big unions a nice pension. Something you won't ever get working in an office.
