Yea man it sucks I will agree that Oregon has beautiful forests and parks but the job market is brutal and many people struggle needlessly.

I really like Oregon.

I live in California, which I love as well. Oregon is like the old west version of California. I like it because it feels like the authorities really let you mind your own business and there is a lot of freedom. Keep in mind I was driving through and camping, not trying to start a career :lol:

. I liked Washington but not nearly as much as Oregon. I liked the eclectic mixture of people in Oregon, the kind of slow and laid-back rural vibe, the kind of libertarian mindset, the land is beautiful... Washington had beautiful parts too but also a lot of high desert which surprised me. And I felt that the people there... were like a cross between kids from los angeles and canadians :lol:

I think I'd rather live in Oregon than Washington. I think I'd take northern California over either, but there are pros and cons to each.

The most conservative areas in Minnesota are the most beautiful, too.

Perhaps the beauty of nature brings out, or amplifies, spirituality.

Oregon is one of the few states where it is legal for anyone to take mescaline for religious reasons under state law. The others are Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado. I think Minnesota too, but I could be wrong. I've got family in OR, and when I have been there, I loved the scenery and weather. The people, not so much. Of course, this is not true of everyone. But, many folks that I met, don't like out-of-staters because they want OR all to themselves. Which, is understandable when you look at CA to the south. This is based on my experience. YMMV. Good luck.

My boyfriend & I are a taking a big road trip this Spring to check out potential places to live in the Northwest and Oregon is on the list. Neither of us even use cannabis, but we want to be where progressive laws are being written.

We're actually going to probably go down through New Orleans & Austin (just for fun as we've never been there)
Then through the Southwest, and up to San Francisco (also basically just for fun unless one of us hits the lottery or something, ugh SO stupidly expensive) Then Portland, Seattle, and down to Boulder/Denver, then back East.

I absolutely loved Colorado when I was there. I did not spend any time in Denver or Boulder, so am super looking forward to checking both those places out.

Colorado has low real estate compared to either coast and great weather even in winter time! You should check out homes in CO as well great time to buy.

I have two close family members in Ashland- apperantly mj isn't a difficult issue there. they love the area.

Oregon is hell. Finally just moved out of that state. Back in Washington for now. Oregon's income tax is straight up bullshit. $200 a month taken out for oregon taxes. I would have to spend nearly $2,500 a month in washington to have the sales tax equal that.

oregon is hell because of the income tax??? that outweighs all the great aspects of it? it seems to me they make pretty good use of the taxes here - i won't mind paying (once i get an over the table job.)
