Amsterdam Warns Tourists About Deadly Cocaine Outbreak...

AMSTERDAM –  Health authorities in Amsterdam are warning of dangerous drugs being sold to tourists after three British men died in the last month after snorting heroin they may have believed was cocaine.

A large sign outside the Dutch capital's Central Station warned Thursday, "Extremely dangerous cocaine is sold to tourists" in the area.

The warning campaign was started after two British men, aged 20 and 21, were found dead in a hotel room in the city on Tuesday. Police say they likely died after snorting "white heroin" they likely bought believing it was cocaine.

Amsterdam police spokesman Rob van der Veen says the same drug is suspected in another British tourist's death last month.

Van der Veen says it is not yet clear why heroin is apparently being sold as cocaine.

seems like one would taste the coke first....I don't know that I've ever just snorted coke without tasting it first.

It's pretty common to actually taste test cocaine. Rub a little on your gums. It has a numbing effect.

I've seen crack heads rub a little piece of rock on their gums to see if it is real before they pay for it.

Who the fuck buys "coke" from those street pushers? That shit was mega sketch why I went there over 10 years ago. Fake XTC and fake cocaine, it was everywhere.

Heroin is usually at least 2x as expensive as cocaine by weight.  I think this was just a mix-up like in 'Pulp Fiction'.

They both taste like chemicals, but cocaine moreso I would say, also there is numbness.  Heroin has a slight vinegar taste, and is maybe a tiny bit floral too, less salty more bitter than coke.

I've snorted first. Who the hell has time to take a taste test when you've got the shakes?

Also, I thought that white heroin powder turns clumpy when it is exposed to humidity or moist air… seems you would have been able to tell the difference between that and powdered cocaine.

When there are cuts involved you can never really tell how the powder is going to behave.  I thought this was going to be a case of another toxic cut like lavamasole or whatever it was a while back that was killing peeps.  This whole epidemic warning because 2 people did heroin thinking it was cocaine is pretty suspect.

Of course by "white heroin" they could mean fentanyl or some fent analog.  That does happen every now and then and is has been sold as "china white".

Cocaine is one hell of a drug, point being it's hell on earth. And if you don't know what it smells like you shouldn't be doing it.
It's garbage in the states unless your in miami,  been cut with meth since early 2000, all the good stuff is used to make crack. Mostly it's that substitute bath salts crap, I haven't done it in a very long time but it's just not worth it. Very expensive for nothing really. The good stuff would get you high all night on one liner. It's corporate ran now garbage
