Smoking Salvia (5X, 10X, 20X) is very easily done through a gravity bong. I have broken through once on a pipe but after trying it through a gravity bong (with a bic lighter), there is no comparison. After taking the rip you don't even feel uncomfortable with the amount of smoke or the amount of time you have to hold it. By the time you blow out the smoke you are feeling pretty strong effects and 5-10s later, blastoff.

Oops, I didn't see that this thread came back from 2003. To answer your question:
Ball up a reasonable mass of salvia and tuck it into the side chamber of your mouth in between your teeth, gums, and cheek. Suck on this quid (sp?) for an extended amount of time (1-2 hours), trying to keep as much of your saliva in your mouth to be absorbed.
I don't think anyone does that for extract though. For extract, refer to my gravity bong post or the descriptions of bong usage.

Also, before anyone else says it, use the search function, trust me, all of these questions have been asked before.

The one and only time i've smoked salvia i had a breakthrough experience.  I used a regular lighter, standardized 5x, and really mabey .1-.15g, probobly nothing more.  I used a Gravity Bong, and lit and pulled it really hard, fast suction = hotter cherry, it cashed and i took the hit, held it in for about 10-15 seconds, let it out, and off i went in another 5-10 seconds, it only started as a change in reality, EXTREME Stonage, then right at the end of it my vision broke and i broke through.  I had all of the characterizable Salvia sensations of of lvl 3 or Light Visual state, i was also being very generous on myself as it was my first time, and i didn't want to get a too overly intense experience, so i waded into the pool of Salvia, and i had a wonderful time.....Crazy is all i can say....but amazing :laugh:

You CANNOT use a regular lighter.  If you dont want to break through, use a regular lighter.  Regular lighters are not at all hot enough to break through, i tried it many times.  Read shit before you post a false statement like that.  Peace

dont use a bong use a glass pipe t hey work the best good hoots and u have to hold the hoot in as long as possible .. worked for me
slavia is a atotaly fucked up high in my opinion i love it
