Hey! Is this san Pedro!
    #20839497 -

Hey what's up everyone! I'm hoping to get some feedback from some of you knowledgable folk here at shroomery! This is My first post here ,and would appreciate your guys input on some cacti I have acquired. I know what to generally look for, but still unsure of my findings.
I have more pieces, but plan on rooting the two tops IF they are legit. Thanks guys!

Still pretty new to the cacti world, but that looks like it might be a PC pach.

Awesomeness! thanks for the fast replies guys!
What would you say would be a smart way to conserve my cuttings?
If 12 inches are one dose, then I'd say I have about 7...
I'd like to make a brew with say two doses, and possibly chop up the rest into thin stars, and dry it out in my room? (To eventually extract with alcohol) There is no sun to work with as of now, and not too keen on sticking large cacti cuts in the freezer ,lol
Thanks again guys in advance!

No I haven't despined them, I figured that I would lose some skin in the process of that.
Also I heard When you boil it, the spines gets all soft, stringy an more managable, it's gonna get strained anyway right?

I'm just hoping someone can point out a definite way I can "preserve" the extra cacti I'm not using for later.
I guess next time I'll  come through with a tape measure, an just get what I need

Yea you could not poach them.  You could also plant one and grow it out to conserve it.

Yea well, like i I said I was planning planting the two tops if they were legit..
Minus those two tops, plus the two doses to consume by the weekend, I'm left with around 3 in a half doses I want to make paste out of.
there is nothing to be wasted here

Nope, overgrowth hanging over ones wall, protruding into a public alley isn't stealing
If I'm not mistaken your allowed to even take your neighbors fruits if they are hanging into your property by law.
Either way, they are plentiful.. Two days of crusing around , and finding legit columns to snatch up that ARENT on anybody's property but the city

Unless it's out in the wild, it's always on somebody's property.  If you ain't asking for cuts, its poaching, plentiful or not. :2cents:

Well if you knew it was going to happen, you must of had the logical sense to know that we don't really like people poaching cacti. We all grow our shit and put tons of effort and time into it. If we were to go outside and find half our shit poached it would be pretty depressing to us. It's not like PC Pedro is expensive bro.
I just feel a moral obligation to tell people "hey, fuck you" when they steal things. Maybe its because I just got robbed recently. I'm sure the person had some type of moral justification, as most thieves do.
Its no disrespect man, but don't be so defensive. If you know you did a shitty thing own up to it and just don't do it again. Its not like we are shunning you from the forum. We are just letting you know that's not cool and not very respectible. We are still here to help you and be your friend.

Hello!

Well what did you expect really?

We have clear rules about this sort of thing. If you didn't want fingers waived in your face then you should of kept certain information to yourself.

You did the crime, admitted it and are now being told, rather nicely too, how abhorrent we find that sort of act here in the EG forum.

Telling poachers off is about the only real fun we can have in this forum. Growing plants is cool and all but rib tickling poachers with 3 inch spines is the next best thing.

While I don't agree with what you've done it's not like you've cut it on somebody's property(I'll take your word). This is what's saving you from being banned.

Whatever though, you should now know how it works around here now. If not read the forum rules for clarification.

There's no Backeberg clone.

The PC pachanoi has yet to be found in the wild, this doesn't mean it never did, just that populations don't exist anymore or never did. It was thought of once as the 'Backeberg Clone' that Curt Backeberg originally described and brought back to Germany but the picture and description of T.pachanoi in Die Cactaceae doesn't match that cutting. To this day nobody knows its origins, and it could be a cultivated hybrid.

It's nice to see that you spelled his name correctly though, most people leave the 'e' out in the middle.

Man,I just want to trip out like everyone else lol
I jus came up on some pedro ,an wanted help,I didn't walk into someone's lawn and started hacking away at his cacti ya know..

I can assure u by the obvious state of the house and location that nobody cares. I don't exactly live in a bad neighborhood, but it's obvious nobody gives a shit about anything on their property quite frankly, the yard in which it was oozing out of is not a garden but a yard of brown waist high weeds and old rusted Chevy clunkers and parts lying around, not to mention it was still overgrowth swelling into his alley

I kinda find it hard to believe nobody here has just taken any like I have, but ok ,if that's what it is ,I guess you guys are real serious about this cactus..

You feel I did something wrong, ok fine I can respect that.
I'm not trying to shit where I eat ,or cause problems. I was just looking for advice, So I apologise if I came off (or still am) sounding like a dick.

Also i seen whole freakin forest like growth in some of the more shady-er run down neighborhoods, straight on the sidewalk just growing next to fire hydrants!

Yeah, we do take it rather seriously. Some of us have collections ranging into the thousands of dollars and have spent significant amounts of time and effort sourcing plants legally. If some creeper stole my cactus I'd be furious, if I caught them in the act they'd be fertilizer. If they asked nicely then I'd send them away with arms full of cuttings and they'd tell tales of the cactus weirdo who gave them free cuts to begin their collection with.

It's not that I think anything. It's more that this forum has a rule about the behaviour you partook in. Here's how it's written in the rules of this forum:

Quote:
Poaching and theft of plants is illegal. Anyone who shows intent to do so or admits to taking plants from the wild, from a private property or public property without permission will be banned from the Ethnobotanical Garden Forum temporarily, if not permanently.

Is that making things clear to you now?

In future read forum rules before posting. It can save you from a lot of trouble.

I actually read that link before, not too long ago when I believe you posted it:biggrin:I just liked calling it the backebergs-clone instead of primary cultivar, because I believe I'm stuck in the past, can you help me:stoned:
