Women Sues Sperm Bank After Getting Pregnant by Black Donor

"In the lawsuit, Jennifer Cramblett (a lesbian) claims the lab missing has caused her and her partner added stress and anxiety as they struggle to raise their 2 year old biracial daughter"

"She's now suing the sperm bank for wrongful birth and breach of warranty because of "emotional distress" and "economic and non-economic losses" she's endured."

"Jennifer lives each day with fears, anxieties and uncertainly about her future and Payton's future"

"The mother also complains that in order to get her daughters hair cut, she has to travel to a black neighborhood, where she is obviously different in appearance, and not overtly welcome"

It sounds like she doesn't like her daughter because she's half black and is blaming other people for her issues.

I think it's entirely reasonable for a sperm bank to accurately characterize and screen their donors.

She specifically wanted a white sperm donor, the sperm bank fucked up and now she's pissed off.

I'd be pissed off too. I just don't see why she waited 2 years to do anything about it. Doesn't anyone use dumpsters like a normal person anymore?

Right or wrong, it seems to me that (one of) the primary reasons people go to sperm banks is so they can hand pick whatever traits they want for their child, for whatever reason.

I guess not, but her main complaint is that she has to deal with the racial implications of having a black daughter.

Yeah.  I get it, and it's not something I would care about (personally).  But I'd be pissed at the accuracy and quality of the clinic.

One might consider a much more extreme example:  what about a donor with some weird heritable genetic disorder.  I'd expect a clinic to screen their donors and to have their samples accurately identified.

Their anger seemed genuinely aimed at the sperm bank. Apparently they spent a great deal of time searching for a donor that specifically looked like one of the women.

Totally justifiable reason to sue.

I'm white, my wife if white. Black baby? That's enough for everybody to think she cheated on me then I have to spend the rest of my life telling people I'm shooting blanks and the sperm bank fucked up. Then I'll look like that husband in complete denial cause the story is farfetched.

That's some Me, Myself and Irene type of shit

Well it's also the basic issue of being able to trust medical professionals...

She asked for something personal and specific, but she received something distinctly different.

Even though she wants to sue and in this day and age of PC dogma, she has every right to,
IMO i believe that there's a potent lesson here to learn.
Cosmos totally yanked her chain.
She wanted to keep her bubble small and not have to deal with something outside of her comfort zone and the Universe ( via the mistakes of the medical professionals ) was like "lol good luck with that"

They knew before the birth and could have aborted had they wished. At the time they were notified she was only 4 months along.

My good friend had a co-worker that was engaged to this woman, the woman was pregnant and when he went to hospital and saw that she gave birth to a black baby, he walked out the door and never spoke to her again, she cheated on him with some black man.

She's basically prejudging that her community and her own family will act racist towards her daughter in the future, and is using that premise as part of her lawsuit.
