UN relief agency spokesman bursts into tears over deaths of Palestinian children

A spokesman for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which provides aid to Palestinians in Gaza, broke down in tears during a TV interview in the aftermath of Wednesday’s fatal attack on a UN-run school, used as shelter.

Twenty people were reportedly killed after a shell hit the UNRWA school in Jabalia, Gaza, where 3,300 people had been taking refuge.

Chris Gunness, a spokesman for the UNRWA, was unable to check himself while giving an interview to Al Jazeera Arabic the same day.

“The rights of Palestinians, even their children, are wholesale denied,” he official said before breaking down sobbing in front of the camera.

In a promptly-released condemnatory statement, the UN said its evidence suggested Israel was behind the attack.

“Children killed in their sleep; this is an affront to all of us, a source of universal shame,” the statement read.

The attack in Jabalia was the sixth time UN-run schools have been hit during Israel's current campaign.

Gunness has lately been active on Twitter condemning what he described as “serious violation of international law by Israeli forces.”


The Israeli military said it was still investigating the incident, and claimed the troops had to fire back after Palestinian militants fired mortar shells from the vicinity of the UNRWA school.

Gaza officials say at least 1,361 Palestinians, most of them civilians, have been killed in the Israeli offensive on the enclave. Israel says it lost 56 soldiers in the conflict.

What a clusterfuck.  Palestine needs to learn how to not fling rockets unprovoked.  They're getting alot of people dead that would otherwise be fine at this moment.

Now Russia's fuckin off.  Its about time for N.Korea to fail at launching some bullshit to provoke disturbance pretty soon.

If Israel was not a country the world would be better.
Their massacre of the Palestinians is completely undefendable. Yes Palestine has been firing harmless rockets, but wouldn't you if the big bully kept on squeezing you closer, cutting off vital resources, attempting to exterminate you?
And all the while sucking up to the US and Canada and just trying to get away with as much as possible, knowing they have some free pass because they are Jewish.
I am sure there are some Jewish people who oppose this conflict, but for the most part it seems from public opinion the majority support the massacre of the Palestinians.

Reminds me of the US and Muslims....

Hamas is learning a hard lesson and the people it rules over are taking the hit because of the intransigence of Hamas.  It's a stupid war, really.  Don't shoot rockets at other countries if you don't want your people blown to smithereens.

How about Israel needs to show restraint with illegal settlements the Palestinians are defending there land and homes.

There is nothing illegal about the Jewish settlements.  It's Israeli land.  If it ever becomes Palestinian land then the Palestinians can dictate who can build there.  Right now, anyone can.  That's the difference.

They are defending themselves from people stealing there land its pretty simple. Blind support of Israel is the problem they are essentially a fascist state that has a good pr department.

Facist or not, they are the only democracy in the Middle East and the only government where the people have a voice.  There is nothing wrong with having blind support for democracy and freedom from being bombed with rockets over 80% of your country.  I hope they kill as many Palestinians as they can.  It's the only way the Palestinians will stop this nonsense.
