The Quote Thread

I've thought of some quotes.

Quote:

Take hold of your dreams and your passions; run with them. Never, ever let go.
- daba

Quote:

Remember, events that you have lived through happened that way and that way only. They couldn't have happened anyway else. It's called life, and you're living it.

- daba

Please, I encourage you to share your own!

Concern yourself with what you want.

Quote:

Hehe, the last one would take a bit of explaining... let's just say I misunderstood the lyrics to a certain song and thought he was singing that instead... when I found out he wasn't, I declared it my quote!
Peace.

I think, that with the advent of acid, mankind has discovered a new way to think... and it has to do with piecing together new thoughts in the mind... What is it that scares people so much about this? Its because they are afraid that there is more to reality than they have confronted... they know that there are doors in the mind, and they are scared to go in there, and they don't want us to go in there either because we might learn something that they don't know... And that would takes us just a little bit out of their control.

the Orb just spun that track. The song is called "Hallucinogen", by a group called "LSD". Or maybe its vice versa. I first heard that track on an Oakenfold compilation.

Badass track and a badass quote. I just wish I could attribute a name to it. I think it comes from an old documentary about LSD.

Yep, it is vice versa. Hallucinogen pumps out psy/goa-trance along with Astral Projection and Infected Mushroom.

And as much as I want to get Hallucinogen's original version of LSD, all that comes up are fucking remixes, and like The Orb and this Paul Oakenfeld fella....

yeah Simon Posford is Hallucinogen - you may recognize his sound from such names as Shpongle and Younger Brother

He uses some GREAT samples in his work.. like: "I'm going to LEAD you.. KICKING and SCREAMING, GIGGLING and LAUGHING, into the FUTURE! I'm going to RELAX you! I'm going to GET YOU!"

Here's a quote of mine:

Even PLANTS have the ability to "See The Light" in whichever environment they find themselves in, and then they adjust their lives accordingly, to best utilize this source. Why, then, is this so difficult for Mankind?

"Old George Orwell got it backwards.

Big Brother isn't watching. He's singing and dancing. He's pulling rabbits out of a hat. Big Brother is busy holding your attention every moment you're awake. He's making sure you're always distracted. He's making sure you're fully absorbed.

He's making sure your imagination withers until it's as useful as your appendix. He's making sure you're attention is always filled.

And this being fed, it's worse than being watched. With the world always filling you, no one has to worry about what's in your mind. With everyone's imagination atrophied, no one will ever be a threat to the world."

The best way to live
is to be like water
For water benefits all things
and goes against none of them
It provides for all people
and even cleanses those places
a man is loath to go
In this way it is just like Tao

-Galileo Galilei

"Don't look above for answers... look within."

"That arises out of this, but this is also caused by exactly that.
Say words and they're so.  How so? Is so.  How not so? Not so so!  There is no thing that is not acceptable."
-Chuang Tzu  .... as crazy as it sounds saying it, I love this one

Yeah, that's a favorite of mine too, but I've read translations of it that resonate more with me. That was the Someone and Sam Hammill, right? I seem to recall the Inner Chapters Chuang-tse translated by Jane English and somebody has that bit phrased in a more accessible, less silly way. But yeah, that's a gem. The Big Goose Dummy or Knowing Wandered North bits are top-notch, too. But that whole book is fantastic.

Props to Niamnyx for that Lullaby quote, great book and that's possibly the best part of it. I would pick a specific quote from A Complicated Kindness by Miriam Toews, but I would just end up quoting the whole book, if I could find the bit where Nomi keeps saying 'First came the World' instead of 'First came the Word' I'd quote that. Also, props to whoever put that (watch me mispell the name of a truely great fella, I mean him no disrespect, he's fantastic, I'm just exposing my ignorance, not knowing his name) Thick Nyat Ngueh quote up.

As for my quote, howzabout

"Never get so attached to a poem you forget truth that lacks lyricism and never draw so close to the heat that you forget that you must eat, oh oh-oh"
-- Joanna Newsom, it's a song lyric as the oh oh-ohs might suggest.

Don't worry, I'm wrong.
