It means that theshiftingwalls is a racist bastard who only likes people with blue or green eyes(i.e. the Aryan race). The reason you don't get it is that it doesn't make sense.

It's true. When I was in France, this guy told me that he could tell I was interrested in philosophy, just by looking into my eyes. I was pretty impressed.

It's an incomplete thought, a silly posture of deep meaning.

If it was true, we'd have a heck of a day, for everytime we made eye contact we'd be looking into each others' souls, and that would be kind of hard to do everytime.

If looking into someone's eyes showed you their soul, I would've figured out from the start that my ex was a crazy, paranoid, malicious bitch. But instead I was infatuated with her and only saw a sweet girl who(I thought) loved me.

yeah, unfortunately it didn't explain that the next day she told all the kids the exact opposite of what she said the first day... She told them that instead of blue eyes being superior to brown eyes, it was the other way around, and all the roles reversed.

So, by the end of two days, both blue eyed and brown eyed kids knew what it was like on the top and the bottom.

They interviewed those kids like 30 years later and they all agreed that the activity had a profound impact on their lives.

Also, there was some evidence of this excercise increasing intelligence. Mrs. Elliot's class had higher scores, on average, after the excercise was performed. Students that had previously done poorly showed marked improvement. It makes sense that widening someone's perspective would make them a better thinker.

anyway, I think Jane elliot does that same excercise with adults, now, as part of some corporate sensitivity program
