Btw, average DSL speeds in Europe aren't that much higher than in the US. Speeds tend to be a bit higher in the Northern half of Europe compared to the southern half, but they aren't particularly high. Broadband penetration is quite substantial in the Northern half as well. Small countries and well-maintained infrastructure are definitely the enablers here.

For properly high speeds you have to go to university campuses, large company connections and countries like South Korea.

No biggie tho, it's a common mistake people make when talking about Scandinavian countries. Scandinavia=Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

Nordic countries= all the Scandinavian countries plus Finland and Iceland

I have a 6 Mbit DSL connection. Wouldn't mind faster but I have no complaints really, it's fast enough for what I need it for.

We had one of those in elementary school, black and white display and all. This was the late 90s. We also had a reel-to-reel magnetic tape player that they finally switched for a cassette player in like '99.

I always get Scandinavian and Nordic countries mixed up. Sorry about that. I was going off of what I had heard, but I just checked online and it seems that Northern European countries are statistically a bit faster than the US, but not by much.

Surprisingly, it seems the country of Latvia is also a bit faster than the US.

South Korea and Japan are 1 and 2 in highest internet speeds.

haha yep. I'm thinking of switching providers though, there just isn't much choice where I live. the internet is OK for my intents and purposes, but the cable service SUCKS. went through 3 or 4 boxes in the last 2 years and they all are shit.

the channel changing speed is 30-60 seconds per channel. turning the TV on itself can take even longer. randomly needs re-booted whenever the few shows I actually want to watch are on. plus now my favorite cartoon channel has been showing as 'currently unavailable' for the past 2 days.  :oldman:

Time warner cable is always on top of shit for me.

On the rare occasion that I have a problem they're here sometimes in a few hours, at the latest the next day.

you live in the city or suburbs I guess. they don't give a shit about us here in these here rural parts. in fact they almost never show up until a day or two after they say they will. everyone on my road says the same thing about TWC too. :shrug:
