If one uses Polyfill instead of tyvek in that gromet, why is it so crucial to keep it dry??
When you shake your jars they have to get wet, ....
I've made a good dozen jars so far, and have had only 1 contam so far... the green got it!!
Inject a few drops of alcohol you say??? ok then.. sure. I will, just because you said so!! But how crutial is it?

Plastic lids: $2.79 for 8 = $0.35 a piece syringe seal: $2 for 24 = $0.09 a piece rubber grommets: cheap at lowes, no more than $0.10 a piece polyfil or part of a filter patch: less than $0.10
so, for a total of $0.64 i could make these, and i think i could do it for $1
how popular do you think it would be?
i'd send some to sixtango for approval first
i would pay ~.40 (plus parts of course) per lid for you to make them for me. my life is so hectic that while i love doing this sort of thing I would pay because I believe in that sorta "teamwork". i want 6t's approval on your craftsmanship and I'd also want to make a small "sample" order for say 6 of them. if they meet my expectations I'd order another ~50 of them.

If you ever agitate the jar & get the filter -- wet. Simply alc swab it's surface (lightly). Acl will evap in a few moments.

i'll build some first
i have lids, and ordered the syringe seals, and i have filter material too
so all i need are grommets, and i'll do that soon.
next, is some drill bits, hmmmmm

TopSide
Underside
There is no wizardy involved in building these lids.
Injection port that reseals
Rubber grommet
Small piece of tyvek
Drill 2 holes in the lid, smaller than the diameter of the grommet & port. Insert port, tight. Cover the grommet with tyvck & insert in the other hole, tight. Trim excess tyvck off under side of lid.
A drill press makes it all easy, if you have one. But, any decent drill will work.
Bit size is dependent on the size of the port & grommet -- you use.
I built a few with the port & tyvck/grommet filter & a big pile, without the port, for G2G transfers. Because no port is needed with G2G.
Anybody can do it.

Seems that the links aren't working for the pictures. Either the pictures haven't been uploaded to the new server yet or they were lost.
Maybe 6T will repost them for you...I'm sure he will. If he does I'll fix the ones at the top for him.
Great lids by the way...he sent me some!

Had to bump this thread to say.....these truly are the perfect lids. Especially for liquid inoculation. Great for g2g as well.
Even though you're not here to read this, thank you 6T for all your innovations and ideas. I sure hope your keepin on keepin on.
