nice! although i wouldnt use it for actives. the heat can affect the potency. ive used my dehydrator on candy caps before

but next time im going to try the string method in the back of my car. slow and low with airflow seems to be the best way to preserve and dry the mushroom without killing any flavors or attributes it might posses.


on a side note:

The amount of heat produced by a dehydrator is not enough to break down the actives in cubes. I use mine at 160 deg with no los of potency.
The faster you get them dry the les potency will be lost threw oxidization

hurm. ive heard the exact opposite for cyans. that using the dehydrator essentially makes them bunk as far as potency.

Cyans are a different story as far as drying and storage goes, cubes can be left in a dehydrator with the heating element on with no potency loss imo.

True, cubes are fine in the dehydrator with high heat. I dry mine in a nesco dehydrator at 150 with no noticeable difference in potency.

Gah i cant find the thread, i thought it was in the faq some where but i know that it is advised be much more careful when drying and picking cyans because they lose much of there potency, wish i could find the thread it explained it much better. I do know though that cyans are best eaten fresh for the outrageous potency that they are known for.

heat kills the potency. in the dehydrator, or in a hot car. makes em do nuttin at all :frown:

you gotta store em in an airtight, dark, cool place.

or freeze em

i consider myself a mushroom heavyweight. they call me a "shroom black hole" cos i can outeat anyone i know and not trip as hard

i had day old cyans once. and not very many either. my friend showed me her digital clock that projected the time on the ceiling. then she offered to show us around the property. like 3 hours later she asked if we wanted to take the tour. I was like bro! that was 3 hours ago, im ready for bed. she points at the clock, it had been like 30 mins.

All actives are comprised of the same chemicals, there is no difference between species other than the psilocibyn and the psilocin ratio, they both break down at a similar temperature that will almost never be reached by a normal food dehydrator,
