how does it feel to think now? good, right?

now if the kid had ACTUALLY followed the cop outside (instead of slowly approaching him), i would have commended the cop for taking action and popping him at the door... but unfortunately, he didn't even give the kid a chance... saying "stop or ill shoot" is insufficient. i wonder when idiot cops will realize this; but then again population control is a pretty popular concept, these days with idiots, so... :shrug:

Tell me, how many times have you been in a car accident and then been confronted with a cop pointing a gun at you? There is a good likelihood this man was concussed from the accident. People with severe concussions do not have any idea where they are, let alone the ability to comprehend this extreme situation.

The cop could have taken five steps backwards and been out of the home. He decided instead to stand his ground and assert his dominance like a simple animal.

and i still fail to see how stepping out of the home would have stopped him from coming at him.

The neighbor told the cop the guy was killing himself inside. When he yelled in and failed to respond, the cop had no choice but to go and check on him. If he hadn't, and guy had slit his wrists and bled out in there, it would be a civil suit for not assisting him.

The neighbor is likely also why backing out wouldn't work. There were bystanders up the cops ass, as you can hear him repeatedly telling them to get back. If the cop had backed out and the guy stabbed that girl right in the doorway, how would that have looked on the news?

At the very least going backwards down unfamiliar cluttered stairs really isn't what you want to be doing when a guy is coming at you with knives. That cop was alone, and if the guy went off and the cop didn't stop him, bystanders could have easily been injured or killed. It isn't as cut and dry as the arguments have been making it seem.

when he was scared he was gonna be lunged at, he took exactly three steps back, and three very small steps.

five big steps would have gotten him out of the house where he could control the situation better, because he'd have grounds to shoot if the kid had come to the door, as the people outside would have been in danger; plus, he would have been away from the kid sufficiently to be safe himself, and be able to work more on talking the kid down from the edge, so to speak.

Yeah, maybe wait till he comes outside and becomes a real threat before shooting anyone. The cop could have just immediately turned around as soon as he came around that corner. Instead he chose to act like some macho alpha male control freak and stand his ground and yell while pointing a gun. Watch the video again man... I have nothing against guns or defending yourself against violence, but killing somebody should be your last resort. This cop went face to face with someone who was in an unstable state and pushed them over the edge.
