About 90% of this article is utter crap.

So complain to the author.

I e-mailed it to a few friends and they seem to think it's on the mark.

And just going by who the author is, I'd bet his examples are accurate.

I don't doubt that the examples are accurate. I'm just pointing out that those examples are rare exceptions rather than the rule.

Don't you mean you BELIEVE they are the exception?

Or do you have some special inside information?

All right, fine. I don't know for sure that the majority of colleges aren't doing this. All I know is that none of this crap applies to my college, and I don't think the college I go to all that special. But it'd be nice if the author of the article included some statistics instead of just specific examples, so we know just how common this shit is. But I bet the statistics wouldn't be so kind to him.

If some aren't doing it then why did the Education Department feel the need to do this....

Of course there's always the possibility it's going on right under your nose and you either don't realize, or choose not to see it.

So some colleges have "speech codes." I agree that that's a little too much. But that article you posted didn't really seem to address that much. All I can tell you is that not all colleges(and I doubt even the majority) are doing this. Just today, a girl in my ethics class said she thought that homosexuality was immoral. No one reprimanded her for it. We merely discussed it.

None of these site's show a bias but your document sure does.. It basically says that conservative views are being oppressed in school by liberals.. Pretty easy to see who has the bias here.. It's all those libbies trying to take away our freedom!! Pretty funny..

Yesterday, the first meeting of the College Republicans at my school coincided with Spike Lee giving a speech on campus.  It must be a conspiracy against conservatives!  Or maybe it's the fact the College Republicans hadn't thought about that when they planned the meeting.

Read it again. The poster was white. I seem to recall your so called "bible beaters", were a minority group.

Do a little checking, recall the name of the book in the story, and you'll see why that's pertinent.

Edit: Here. This a bit more detailed.

More info.

Well sounds like they were probably racist which is there right but doesn't give them the right to try and screw up some poor guy's school career.. Pretty sad but it could've happened to just about anyone posting anything..

i'd say the school i go to is fairly 'conservative'... or maybe just non-liberal. i suppose it's just apathetic.

it's a big jock\fratboy school. there is discussion of sports, not politics. and everyone is drunk. all the time.

i'd rather go to a 'liberal' school than a conservative one. in the context of college administration, liberal tends to equate with permissive... and conservative with restrictive.

there's still a bunch of PC BS here, and of course the archetypal liberal professor, but what the hell...

If someone wants to go to a conservative college, there's always BYU, or if you're really hard-right, there's Bob Jones University.
