I've been a functional alcoholic all my life. I always had beers for breakfast(and like Zap said, no food). My lunch cooler usually was 6 - 8 beers and a sandwich.

  I was rarely late to or absent from work. I supervised Demo/ HAZ mat work crews over 20 years , usually at some level of being drunk. Earlier in my career I was a functioning heroin addict and a meth banger for a year, too.( functioning meth head is a stretch )

  Feb. 2012, I thought I should cut back because my drinking was getting more than usual. That's when I discovered Alcohol Withdraw  Syndrome and that I had early stage of liver disease. I stayed dry about 4 or 5 months, then slipped.

  Last week I Just got out of the hospital Needless to say  I can't drink any more.. But y'all can do what ya want...
