Favorite mixed drinks?

I'm looking to expand my horizons when it comes to trying different drinks/types of alcohol. And my parents/teachers/probation officer said I have no ambitions!
Anyway, I've grown to really like Alabama Slammer, So-Co & Lime, and martini's, among others. My signuture drink is whiskey & ice tea, which has an unique flavor. What drinks do you like, and what would you recommend trying at a bar? Sometimes it's hard to experiment when you don't know what the bar tender can make, and it's hard to remember all the ingredients.
Of course, I have a love for shots & beer, but I know how to order those and which to pick out. It's a little easier to order a shot of tequilia than something like a Screaming Orgasm without handing your testicles over the bar.

Long Island Ice Tea is an amazing drink when its done right. I've been wanting to try bourbon, scotch and brandy, as well as try some high quality vodka & tequilia. I'm too used to the low-shelf.

Favorite would have to be Gin (Tanqueray, Beefeater, Blue Sapphire), OJ, and a lime wedge squeezed and tossed in the drink. I only drink quality Gin, cannot stand the cheap shit. I usually mix them a little under 50/50 to start the night, but they get stronger as the night goes on.

I tried a gin & tonic once, thought it was alright, but it was probably with lower quality gin. Next time I'll make sure it's "the real thing".
Am I the only person who giggles when they hear the name "Beefeater"?

Dirty Martinis (so, I like the olive juice).
And here's a good recipe for Juleps:
The perfect Mint Julep comes of infusing the bourbon with the mint and letting it have a night's rest. 1 bottle Kentucky Bourbon 3 cups Fresh Mint Leaves 24 Fresh Mint Sprigs 6 Lemon Twists Bring a half-cup of water to a boil. Remove from heat and add 1 cup of sugar. Refrigerate until cool. Pour bourbon into a 1-1/2 quart jar and add mint leaves. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Strain liquor into a pitcher and discard the mint. Sweeten to taste with sugar and water mixture. Fill a julep cup or a Collins glass with cracked ice. Add infused bourbon and stir until glass frosts. Take a twist of lemon and rub it on the rim of the glass and toss it into the drink. Garnish with mint sprigs. Serves 6.

Try Gin and OJ. I do not like gin and tonic at all. Yeah, beefeater is pretty funny, but it is the cheapest of the good gins.

I was looking at the mint julep recipies and they sound interesting, but certainly a drink I'd want to make myself to make it right (since overnight is best?).

It's cheaper and more fun to make your own drinks. Of course, ordering a Mint Julep in a bar would probably be funny.

Exactly what I was thinking! I can't picture sipping something that has mint leaves in a bar.

Well I usually just drinnk straight up whiskey or beer. However I am very partial to white russians. I am not a big vodka fan but that drink i really enjoy. Its a mix of kahlua, vodka, and milk. It's like a mix of chocolate/coffee booze and it's the shit!!!

At the bars I usally drink the cheapest draft beer they have. Shot of whiskey or jager when I have a decent amount of money. When at home I drink either red dog beer or whiskey and coke.
IMO white russians are disgusting.

I'm hoping you dont mean vodka and tequila together, they dont combine well, but I just know that from taking swigs from vodka and tequila the same night and the night ending up sick... but I dont flavour-wise that they combine well either.
I like tequila sunrise, my favourite. "Sex on the beach" and "Orgasm" are the only two other bar tender mixed drinks I've tried. They're good to. I think I've tried something called, "slow hard screw against the wall", I think its 2-4 differant types of whiskey mixed together... and I think I didnt like it... long time ago and was really drunk, thats why I think I remember this.

lol, no, that would be pretty nasty (I would think)! I mean, I want to try the really good stuff on it's own so I see if and what differences there are between Grey Goose and Barton's.

The ole screwdriver suits me well, except instead of mixing Vodka and orange juice, I mix the vodka with orange juice concentrate...pretty much follow the instructions on the concentrate, substituting vodka for water...though i think it calls for 2 volumes of water to 1 volume of OJ, make that 1.5 volumes of vodka instead.
