Debian and Kali

Attempting to regain control of my computers- theres several varient viruses going around that open a backdoor to hackers - one spreads via blooth the other infects every possible part - the EFI, the BIOS rom itself, bootsectors of every kind I can't get rid of it its litterally been a living nightmare for the past 4 onths attempting to remove it.

OI have to run all my PCs with no hard disk, I can't work anymore and manually setup to turn off IPV6 and run a script to terminate ssh tunnels and even that hasn't stopped themtheur still getting into the systemsand destroying any work i do.

Mym entire memory system is remapped right now and a daemon running, I'm reading linux boox every day but I can't stop these guys its a litteral nightmare.

I just want a secure way of using my host and running my webshop :frown:

Looking at Debian customisations is like jumping 50 years into the future compared to Windows.

I can create my own operating system on a pen drive designed for 1 sole task such as making movies, chemistry simulation, hacking or defence.  its amazing kit.

Shitballs man. Do you practice any type of backup? You should be running virtualization so server snapshots are taken daily.

Virtualization, Disk Imaging, and redundancy are key to a successful operation.

Lightning could blow our servers up. As soon as I had replacement hardware, i could have our network back up in a few hours.

People shouldn't have to be told this by now. It should be drilled into every person who uses a computer. Always make backups of your data!

I'm currently running bodhi on a relatively old machine. Do y'all have any advice on switching to something like gentoo or arch?

The first thing anyone would need to know, before they can help you, is why do you want to switch?

I really just want to learn how the damn thing is put together. This isn't my main computer, and there's really no data here I'm trying to preserve. It's entirely for experimentation and learning, and I have plenty of time to work on it. I was really just fishing for opinions. I've read various tech sites, some of the arch wiki, etc, but I'm really curious what the shroomery community has to say.

If you want a project box keep your eyes open the day before trash day with a little Gparted or Clonezilla you can have a box picked from the trash up and running in at most a matter of hours. With what ever distro you wanna check out. Or even download some live ISOs to see what you like.:manofapproval: As an aside basically all distros run the same it is just a matter or learning where the designers put shit. for example arch is loosely Slack based and all of the assorted buntus are debian based. There are a few that look different at gui level but at the terminal level it is all pretty much the same.
