Knowledge or awareness?

Does true understanding come through knowledge or through an awareness?
We could never aquire enough knowledge to figure out what is really going on. Could we? Not even collectively over time does it seem possible to me. Maybe it is more of a reckoning. Just a way of percieving things. What do you think?

Awareness. Knowledge is determined by culture, upbringing and so on. Awareness is inherent to the human condition and therefore available to all.

Awareness comes first, because awareness gives you the working material. Knowledge provides the understanding afterwards.

Certainly knowledge is determined by culture, to a degree. I am talking about knowledge that transcends cltural bounds, such as scientific knowledge.

Isn't knowledge biased? When we try to refine awareness through knowledge don't we taint it in some way.

Computers have a lot of knowledge, the same as animals, but neither are "aware". Awareness is always there, and does not directly connect with the thoughts in our mind, the roles we play.... not a lot is known about this sort of spiritual thing, and it will eventually be the main focus, I am sure. Ya'll have heard about 4th density by now, right? If only you knew... Peace.

A wolf is not aware of you trundling clumsily through his forest and whether or not you are afraid when he faces you down? I would have to humbly disagree.

A difference in definiton, I am afraid. Yours: "Having knowledge or cognizance: aware of the difference between the two versions; became aware of faint sound. " (note the fact that it says faint sound... hehe). Mine is more of a conscious sort of definiton, like "Having an awareness of one's environment and one's own existence, sensations, and thoughts. ". Not entirely limited to that definiton, though. More of a spirtiual definiton.
A wolf is different in that it can judge its various inputs and sensations through instincts, not capable of conscious thought (well, technically, we don't know, but I guess they don't, most people studying them don't think so, and I'm not familiar enough with the subject to provide some unproved, advancing ideas..)
Get what I said now, man? Different meanings of words will end up killing us.. hehe. Peace.
