Or are we doomed to destroy ourselves?

well, some people say that the universe will eventually expand so far and so fast that it will fuck up stellar evolution and all the stars will burn out, and the universe will die a cold death.

no 'thing' lasts forever

Sometimes, the only thing you have is hope. There is always a possibility for hope.

Self-destruction is our nature. Our only hope is in fighting against human nature then.

I don't find any meaning in that Max. But of course there is hope, you can hope for anything. As for probability, I am guessing we will live on!

I was just thinking that human nature is several things. It's both survival of our genes, survival of our bodies, and survival of our cultural memes. Sometimes these are in conflict, and fight each other. Not necessarily to the point of self-destruction though.

i think ultimately, human nature is free will.

the choice to be greedy or compassionate

the choice to be a monk or a sex-fiend

that choice is out nature, the act of determining our futures.
