This infighting is sad and odd. Ythan killed chat. He admitted it. He explained why.

Years ago, several admins and mods spent a great deal of time on chat. This made discussing chat privately amongst the staff possible. Not so much lately. In general, the staffers have aged and grown out of chat, while the age of the average chatter has stayed the same. God knows I felt old when I jumped in from time to time. There is, believe it or not, quite a learning curve for people who are 10+ years older than the average chatter. Also, the older you get, the harder it is to spend the hours each day to properly Staff the place.

Almost 10,000 unique users visit The Shroomery each month. A fraction of them used chat. If a majority of Shroomerites used chat, it would still be here.

There are over 200 people browsing The Pub right now and another 200+ in TPE not to mention all the other forums. I hope that helps put things into perspective. Chat had become a very small part of this community. One most of the staff had distanced themselves from. And yet, chat caused more than its share of drama. The Staff hates drama because drama is bullshit and it requires work. The Staff is not lazy, they'd just rather not wallow in bullshit.

It is no individual's fault, except for Ythan who admits he killed it after a vote... but Christ, I really can't blame him.

I guess this is some of that favoritism that was mentioned throughout the thread.
The user is allowed to openly flame me in WAF without the post even being deleted or edited.

Good thing I'm not a pubber, otherwise I'd have to start filing tickets.

I never used chat because chat on a forum is quite retarded, but I guess some of the complainers did have a valid point about blatant disregard for the rules depending on who is involved, who is popular, etc.
