Blaming the failure of chat on the users is like blaming the failure of a restaurant on the customers.  Chat failed because management failed to make it work.  You were a large part of that management, but certainly not all of it. 

In the end, site management had a choice between trying to figure out a way to make it work despite over a decade of consistent problems or get rid of it...they chose not to waste resources fighting what has always been a losing battle.

If they had chosen better people to run chat, it probably would be here today.

yet i received 3 sitewide bans, for chat room infractions.

the chat was a great thing (years ago) but i think it was a day or 2 ago that i realized aside from a very small ratio of people it did become quite the gutter heap. back in the days of boba_fett, BrAiNs, Herben, Hrmm, pnut, Ythan and a few others whos names escape my memory it was an entirely different culture of people and a very positive one at that. granted that was just the irc end of it.. it was more or less the same all throughout tho. idk if its due in part to the apathy i find in alot of the younger people or what but i see the same downhill slide of personality alot of places online anymore and its not a good feeling that your left with. back in the day (i feel old..lol) it was a haven full of like minded people who not only knew a ton about the main subject of this place but also related side topics along with open minds, open discussion, and common courtesy. now for the most part all ive seen are drug dealers trying to make a quick buck, assholes who take out there frustrations via trolling on people that they have no buisness being disrespectful to and should probly go outside and try such on people face to face instead of being armchair cowards with the emotional maturity of a 12 year old in a broken home. a close friend of my own died 2 days ago and all i were remarks such as "He's better off" and such which just goes to show the mentality of the person such a remark originates from i guess. regardless i did enjoy the chat aspect when it was available primarily the Irc end as i have a very hard time with using forums. i end up making a post and if its not answered i forget about it a half hour later and then find it 6 months down the road i mean yeah i know some people sit glued to the forum but most have a life outside of it and it is easier to be able to jump into a discussion between people who are educated on the subject and ask a question instead of "using the search function" and then having to sift through hundreds of posts that dont hit on the exact information your looking for. i do have mixed feelings on this but considering the lack of educated people with positive personalities i guess not much is lost. im rambling so ill end here

You have the maturity of a 12 year old if you can't recognize  whoever said that shit about your friend deserving to die was a troll.
