Is Simvastatin + Alcohol a bad idea?

I read on Wikipedia that combining Simvastatin and alcohol is a bad idea, but I was wondering if somebody here knew of a specific time frame between drinking alcohol and taking Simvastatin that one should recognize.

I read that taking these two together can really fuck up your liver. But I"m wondering if you wait long enough after drinking, is it ok to take Simvastatin? If not what should a drunk person do - just skip the Simvastatin for a night in order to save their liver?

First I've heard of it. If you're a light drinker, I imagine it would be okay.

What if I normally don't drink, but had one heavy drinking episode?

What to do the night of that episode, after having drinks?

Yes. Its a bad idea. It lowers the shit out of your LDL and makes you prone to liver disease, something like alcohol would have no problem doing more damage than normal. Lowering your lipid levels causes a huge range of problems...

If you want to drink, keep it light.. don't binge. You obviously have some kind of health problem if you're on it.

My advice is to not do it, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

I've been on it for awhile now and I feel fine and my liver panel looks good. But then again, I only drink a few times a year, and I never get roaring drunk, just a light buzz..
