bandaids good for inoc filtration medium?

so this is my first time trying to grow mushrooms and I started inoculation on my first jar when I realized there was only holes (instead of silicone covered or something) so I looked around and saw a pack of bandaids, I figured its like polyfil and micropore tape... is this good enough or no?... so I finished up and am freaking out so I figured y'all could help with the answer :shrug:

Yes, great improvise.
Use these:

Any other brand would work the same.
There small and work perfectly to cover the individual holes. A lot of users and grow methods actually recommend them.

I use to use bandaids before I made my lids. They work perfectly fine and come pre-sterilized :wink:

Micropore tape is "breathable""medical" tape.

Masking tape will more than likely hinder GE.

you don't nees any tape on pf jars. the dry verm layer is your filter.
that said however, i misread the o.g. pf tek and left the masking tape on for many grows, with no issues. it will grow faster if you remove it though.

ok...wow...roadkill says masking or "microspore"...not RR...this whole thing is about what RR said....no one ever mentioned roadkill's voice....go forward 30 or 40 seconds and listen to RR....WTF....were both right...but masking tape might hinder you GE there are threads about it.

the whole time i was listening to when RR was speaking, because thats what we were talking about

you are correct on who said it....

I have no problems obviously and I have 2 cakes that have fully colonized already using it... im just saying i couldn't find micropore tape anywhere, even at a local medical supply store! So i found the next best thing to my knowledge, and did i mention how much cheaper than band-aids it is??? lol

the next best thing is what u have already, a dry verm layer...if it served no purpose, then why is it there? its not there for looks, its there to block contams, and if u dont fuck with the jars and just let them colonize, it works dam good.

If you use masking tape, don't replace it after you inoculate, because it's airtight and won't allow gas exchange. If you use micropore tape, you can replace it for an extra layer of contamination prevention.

Yes, Roadkill said microspore, and I spent hours trying to edit out the 's' he put in the middle of the word. I finally gave up and left it there.
