Dr. Beug includes several normally edible species in that talk, because they also cause poisonings sometimes. If you look through, you will find <A href="http://www.evergreen.edu/mushrooms/phm/s18.htm">Morels</A>, <A href="http://www.evergreen.edu/mushrooms/phm/s49.htm">Blewits</A> (which you mentioned), <A href="http://www.evergreen.edu/mushrooms/phm/s53.htm"><I>Agaaricus albolutescens</I></A> (a normally edible Agaricus), <A href="http://www.evergreen.edu/mushrooms/phm/s58.htm"><I>Pholiota squarrosa</I></A> (widely eaten by Basques in Arizona, and I have eaten it), <A href="http://www.evergreen.edu/mushrooms/phm/s63.htm"><I>Russula xerampelina</I></A> (considered one of the best Russulas by most), <A href="http://www.evergreen.edu/mushrooms/phm/s65.htm"><I>Flammulina velutipes</I></A> (Enokitake, which you can buy at the grocery store), and <A href="http://www.evergreen.edu/mushrooms/phm/s79.htm"><I>Auricularia auricula</I></A> (Wood ears, cultivated for probably 2000 years).

Unfortunately, even the most edible mushrooms cause problems sometimes. In many of those cases nobody knows why, and those get labelled "idiosyncratic reaction".

Happy mushrooming!

You?re the boss. Although I haven?t seen much change there lately...

The link to this document is already in the hunting section, btw.

Thanks, Anno.

It always happens - the post you don't check in preview mode is the one you screw up.

Wow ! It even states that Portobello contains significant levels of a potentially carcinogenic hydrazine that is killed on cooking. I eat them raw in mixed salads often !
