Storing mushroom material for agar and senescence

Currently there is no agar equipment available to me. Would one be able to store a slice of a cap in a ziplock, placed in the fridge until proper equipment to start agar work is in stock? Up to a month?

Or just forget it and make some prints? Are prints subject to senescence too?

And on that topic, I have been doing lots of g2g work and want to know how that relates to senescence. Started with 9 jars from a syringe, turned those into 20 some jars, then some 40 from those, and now I have about 60 jars.

Have noticed my latest g2g's the mycelium has become greyish in appearance, not as "thick" as the original 9 jars. I was originally equating this to there being lots of tiny pebbles in my new WBS that stick to the side of the jars, and that I introduced coffee into the soak I use for the WBS before sterilization.

Now wondering if this is because of senescence? Have used the search feature and been reading more about this, but don't have a crystal clear picture of "generations" in my head.

Is going: syringe->grain->g2g->g2g->g2g,
The same as: syringe->master->generation->generation->generation

Or is it: syringe->grain->fruit->grain->etc?

It's hard for me to see how it works right now.

it is possible, in fact it is possible to grow from dried mushroom tissue using agar. but whether or not it's simple enough for a hobbyist like 90% of us here are? i don't know. but i seems to my mind that what you are describing should work provided you took proper tissue samples. don't just do 1, do at least 3, or 10 would be better. from different shrooms, because while cube A dies in the bag, cube B might be more resilient.
also, use tissue from the stipe (at the bottom of the stem) because you risk including spores if you use the cap. do not cut; tear it, so that outside contact is minimized to the sterile inner tissue, in a glovebox or in front of a flowhood, and place it in your new ziplock, and squeeze most of the air out. instead of putting it right into the fridge, i would allow it to recover and if it's clean and healthy tissue it should fluff back up in 3 days to a week. then refridgerate.
spores re-sets genetics, so no, senescence isn't an issue with prints, but you should grow them out once a year imo and collect new spores.
don't put the grounds in your wbs soak, just the liquid. you can put grounds in your bulk, if you so choose. from my experience don't put thistle or rye grass in it either, they stick to everything like grounds do.
i don't think you should expand beyond syringe->master(1)->g2g(10)->g2g(100), but 1 extra should be ok, you'll just have to wait and see on that one. 60 jars=12 60qt monotubs@ 5 jars per so you should be good!
