how could one or the other be considered inferior if both have the same capacity for reason? (which is the hypothetical)

what is kant's goal or motivation for having a morality?

looking at wikipedia he seems to have a strange idea, that an act is moral only if it is universal. For example if I lie to a terrorist to prevent an attack that is only moral if lieing is moral in all cases. This seems wrong.

Also he seems to think morality can be come from reason alone, which seems absurd to me.

The beauty IS very much in the craziness of it and you have some points correct... Kants goal for morality is only that all rational beings act under the same universal moral laws as you said. Also he proposes morality must be universal but an act is only moral if done out of "moral duty" Instead if as a means to an end. And that these "duties" are arrived at simply through rational beings "creating" these "laws of morality" which also makes morality, in Kants sense a very individual thing as well...
And I haven't read into Kants examples yet but one that goes would be something like this:
A rational being may/should come to the end that it is a moral DUTY to always attempt to aid a fellow man in need...
Just a shitty example im using but point is a moral law can only be tat which every rational being would will to be moral law... Or would act as such to be more law if free from all other impulses(besides reason alone).
Like for your example I lied to prevent death the moral law would have to be broken down as thus.
Since I reasoned to lie to prevent a terrorist attack causing death everyone else would reason to the same end (rationally) if it WERE to be considered moral law or would be a law that comprises the make up of "morality"
